Guys,
Thanks for the help!

Ok, I took out an unneeded card below my (huge) graphics card, creating some more airflow space. I replaced a 60mm intake fan with a much more powerful 80mm fan. And I placed a 60mm fan better -- over the chipset and partly over the ram. Also turned up 2 fans which I have physical controllers on, plus cleaning up cabling a bit.

Overall some better airflow and increased air movement.

Made a difference: Down to 46 degrees C (minus 10-12) on the system temp (according to the BIOS), and down a shade to 39 (minus 1-2) on the CPU. So, I definitely feel better about this. Especially since the higher temps were before any OC.

(Yes, I had upgraded the BIOS to v.6. no temp changes at that point.)

What's the best recommended temperature measurement tool(s) or software for this mobo?

Craig

Thanks for the tips.

I loaded the BIOS: EP45T-USB3P F2d (both file name, and shows up on my startup screen.) I got the download from the p.1 forum sticky link, and I followed the flash instructions.

Right above, at the top of my startup screen, it says: "Award Modular Bios v.6.00PG". So, I assumed this meant "V.6"

At the bottom of the startup screen, it says,
02/05/2010 - P45 - ICH10 - 6A79PGOCC-00

So, what version BIOS do I have?

Angry Re: Should Mainboard system temp be this high? GA-EP45T-USB3P

Okay, Everest has confirmed a few things:

The BIOS v6.00PG is apparently the Award BIOS TYPE.
Meanwhile the BIOS Version is: F2d. (weird. I'm accustomed to other manufacturers simply incrementing numerically. i.e. v.5, v.6, v.7, etc.)

So these are my idle temps now after about 20 minutes of computing:

Attachment 2702

I'm going to assume this is livable. (Again, pre-Overclocking)

Ya sorry for not being more clear, the BIOS would be the F2d you mentioned.
