Well I was getting around 75degrees at 4GHz with my previous settings..

Not that impressive, maybe my fan and case cooling sucks

Using Antec Tri cools.. will be upgrading to noctuas

I've got an identical system to chiggah... down to the cooler and the fans... where did he read that the memory is 1.6v rated? It says 1.5 on the pack and on the g-skill site. Based on the overclocking link that he provided... sure it can pull 1.65-1.75 and I've gone as high as 1.71 but that was out of ignorance... not quite sure where he's getting 1.6 from... anyone care to enlighten me (says 1.5v on my sticks)? I'm also currently overclocking my system.

its 1.66 in bios for 1.648v in windows and 1.5v in bios if your rams rated at 1.5v,maybe 1.6v to account for vdroop but that doesnt always happen

    hey wazza or lsmeasap

    Just revisiting an old thread

My load temps are starting to get really high about 85-90 degrees C load @ 22x multi with 180 mhz freq.

So I got worried and started to lower the OC to 3.7 ghz from 180mhz to 170 mhz x 22 multiplier. Should I decrease my frequency more to 160 mhz ? What is causing the heat generation ? the frequency or multiplier ?

Do I need to re-sit my heatsink with fresh paste ?

Also, why in CPU-Z my multiplier shows as 22x but in BIOS is 21x ?

I think its something to do with the power saving,it switches to 22x single core sometimes, only CPU voltage adds/creates heat, what thermal paste did you use? And what rpm fans are you using?
