    Default GA-X58A-UD3R (Rev. 1) Ps/2 port problem

Hi again everyone, previously I posted about slow boot up time and I'm glad I've solve it because of this forum and I thank you(everyone) for that.

Right now I do have another problem, I have a logitech wireless Mouse/Keyboard combo(I forgot the model) and it's receiver have 2 lines. One is a usb line for the mouse and the other uses PS/2 for the keyboard. My keyboard has a random problem of going on and off and when I'm in the bios I can't change any voltages or any numbers because it keeps on typing the letter "U".

I've already submitted a ticket to the gigabyte support but unfortunately I didn't get the answer that I expected. So this would be my last resort. I can't dispose my keyboard/mouse just because of this. It wasn't a problem when we tested it on a different X58 system. All my PS/2 keyboard worked with the other system except this.

    Thanks

did you enable usb mouse in the bios?
I got no problems with the mouse only the keyboard, as for turning it on, yes I turned on the three options there. Mouse, keyboard and the storage I think if I'm not mistaken.

use a working ps2 keyboard to enable it
My keyboards are working fine, as what I've mentioned I tested it on a different x58 system and also an AMD system if that helps. I only got the issue when I started using this motherboard.

,what bios version are you using? i would update to latest beta bios first http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/12...58AUD3R.6j.zip
I'm using F5, I already tried flashing with the new bios and still the same and even worse if you may ask. My previous OC settings worked well with the F5 and when I updated to the new one, it required more voltages to be stable.

This is my first gigabyte board and it's not going well to start off I should say. I hope someone has the same problem and can help me with the fix.

Thanks wazza for the questions. I needed those for me to provide more info.

that bios i linked you to is a beta bios not on gigabytes site but from tweaktown,my mb is different to yours and bios is different, you said that the reciever splits into usb mouse and ps2 keyboard? if so then try with usb keyboard disabled in bios and just enable usb mouse, its just the bios doesnt support that keyboard as of yet but try to update to latest beta in link,if it doesnt fix it you can always flash back

Yes I already did flash it to the new bios as I mentioned a while ago, I got it here from tweaktown. Regarding the turning On/Off of the usb keyboard. Either On or Off it's just the same, I still have the issue.

Yes, what model is this keyboard/mouse combo?

What other X58 are you referring to you tested on without issues?

I just searched for the box in our warehouse and I can only see "Cordless Freedom Optical" in front. It's logitech btw. It's already old but it serves well so I'm not going to buy a new one just because of this issue.

My friend's x58 rig. He is using Asus Gene II.

I've also tested this with my girlfriend's LGA 775 system a while ago and it's performing well without issues.

    Thanks

Ahh well without the model # they aren't going to be able to help much, but they do often fix Logitech issues (normally the Gxx series keyboards) so I thought maybe you had one of those.

This may just be a set that is not compatible, and is not going to be without a BIOS fix, and in order for you to get that you need the exact model and then bug them to buy or request one so they can make it compatible.

Sucks to here that. (Sorry for the word)

If I knew I'd get too much issues on this board then .... oh well

Reviews were pretty tight on this one that's why I chose it but they never said anything about slow boot up and the other issues at hand.

As for the model, it just says Cordless Freedom Optical but I'll search their website later on if they still have it there.

    THanks
