i dont know but if your current ocz ram isnt working then exchange it with them for another set, dont forget you can run dual channel mode aswell, that will/should let you run 8gb@1600mhz seeing that you cant at the moment run full 12gb @1600mhz

wont they refund you for the corsair? you have 7 days in the uk for mail order to qualify for full refund, idk if you have that over there

Yes, I can get a full refund for the Corsair for 15 days, so I need to figure it out relatively soon. But with the OCZ, once I RMA it with the manufacturer, I can't get a refund any more. I am essentially stuck with trying to get OCZ 3x4GB working. It's a gamble.

I also really don't have a handle on the real world difference in performance running at 1333 vs. 1600 or dual channel vs. triple channel, etc.

From what I've read, more RAM is best regardless for video editing performance.

    What a pain...

can you get refund for ocz ram too?? i think 6 sticks of 2gb matched set would be the best to try and return the two sets ocz/corsair you have for refund if you can

OK. I guess that's the way I'll go. I can return everything and start over with a 6x2GB matched set.

Could I have a bad RAM socket on the motherboard?

I tested all the RAM in the white sockets, but is there any way to test slot 6 other than putting in 6 DIMMS?

Or is it not significant that slot 6 always shows 0MB enabled? It sees the DIMM as being installed, but not enabled.

    Let me know,

P.S. Although now that I think about it, a bad socket would not work even at 1333 or 1066, right? It does see all 12GB at 1333... Oh well.
Sounds like settings to me, or a possible bent pin. More likely settings though since you see all 12GB at slower speeds,

Any 12GB high speed kit you may need higher voltages than you are thinking about using, so keep that in mind

    Thanks.

I have checked for bent pins twice. I took high res photos of each section of the CPU socket and everything looked fine. I am almost positive it isn't a bent pin.
I have tried up to 1.55 QPI/Vtt, 1.28 IOH, and Dram voltage as high as 1.72. Still the most RAM I see at POST is 10GB.

Should I go even higher than that?

When I get my matched 6x2GB RAM in a couple days, I will give it a shot again.

Mind sharing the pics you took?

No, I think at only 1600Mhz 1.55 QPI/Vtt should have been more than enough, unless you are using CAS 6 or CAS 7 at 1600Mhz, then it might need more or looser CAS.

    Thanks!

It very well could be the kit, or not enough voltages, but it does sound to me like you tried enough voltage (maybe not all in the right combo though).

When will you have your new kit?

Yes, finding that magic combo of values amongst thousands of possible combinations is really tough. Especially when I really have no idea what any of the values really mean and how they relate to each other. I have read a ton, but still don't pretend to understand all of it.
According to UPS, the new kit gets here on 7/22.

I'll post and update once the new chips arrive.
