    Default overclock E5200, 2x2GB F2-6400CL5-2GBPQ & EP45-DS3R/EP35-DS3L OCing

    I've got a pair of machines that I've been attempting to overclock, one is a EP45-DS3R (F11E) and the other a EP35-DS3L (F6 BIOS)

    Both builds are using near-identical components other than the mobos
    Intel E5200s
    650w Rosewell PSUs
    2x2GB of G.Skill F2-6400CL5-2GBPQ DDR2 800 each
    9800GT in one, GTX+ in the other

    My goals are a clock between 3.2-3.8 with a FSB above 300, and either RAM at stock clocks/timings or a mild overclock.

    I've done a ton of reading lately, was just up to my neck in P55/i5 settings dealing with a random freezing issue on another build and am sort of fried out & overloaded here, everything I read seems aimed at much more aggressive overclocks, so am sort of lost and unsure what to try.

    I had the EP45 build at 333fsb/11x with 1.36v in BIOS & the rest left auto and the machine was almost stable... but I know I've done something wrong.

    Basically, thus far both machines seem to have the same difficulties booting on the 1st attempt every time when I attempt to overclock. It'll shutoff 3-5sec into boot, try again and then boot normally. Doesn't do this every time, and it doesn't seem to have much effect on the system's stability once booted, but I know something's not right.
    moderate increases in CPU voltage does not solve the issue, nor did a bump in DRAM voltage to 1.92v, nor did setting the MCH core to 1.2v

    Any suggestions? Will post templates for both mobos shortly

    Since they are both different I'll wait on you to give your settings, then advise for you.

    When you mention shut downs/reboots on startup, is this a full shut down or partial? Partial shutdown 2-3 times can be normal when overclocking as the BIOS checks and then applies the settings, so if you mean a partial shutdown then it may be ok

    Only happens on an initial (cold) power on, the fans & everything runs for ~3sec (but not HDs), then silence, and then it all starts again and proceeds to POST & boot as normal.
    I'm unsure how to tell if its a full or partial shutdown


    I've lived with it on the P45 for ages, I just left it on and slept/woke, pretty much forgot about it until i'd go to boot from shutdown.
    found out yesterday that the P35 build also has the same symptom (OC'ed in a similar manner, will get template later tonight)

    That sounds normal, kinda. Cold boot issues often can be hard to correct, as long as it is booting and not giving you a red warning box in the MIT Section of the BIOS after this happens then you are fine.

    Although it could be your settings causing it too, are these 100% Stable tested otherwise?
