Default Need help overclocking to 3.00Ghz with Q6600 and Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

Ok I very simply want to overclock my Q6600 CPU to 3.00 GHz from what I have read on this forum that this is an easy and stable overclock without the need to adjust voltages etc...<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I used the intelligent tweaker in the BIOS to raise the CPU Host Frequency to 333

What happens on boot is my box shuts off then on a couple of times then boots into windows with its default clock intact. Upon re-entering the BIOS I get a hardware failed message which I assume means the BIOS adjusted the CPU frequency back to standard in order to boot.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong and would welcome any assistance to solve this issue.

    Thanks!

You will need to adjust voltages likely, and other settings as well.

Please give us a link to your memory, and tell us what BIOS you are using and then fill out a template from my signature with the settings you are trying and we will advise back

With 333MHz FSB you need to set memory multiplier manually to 2.00B.
Also it is better not to leave Vcore, CPU Termination. PLL. and MCH Core. on auto see this post.

I can help with full settings, but I need to know how much of that ram you have before I can advise though.

So you have 1GB, 2GB, 4GB? Also, just so you know, many 667Mhz memory causes issues, did you check to see if this specific model is on the Gigabyte QVL list? Just wondering
