    Exclamation GA-X58A-UD3R rev 2 + SSD + RAID 1 (BSOD & Disk Boot Failure)

    While I "assume" this is a bad MOBO issue, I am curious if others are having problems with this MOBO OR Most Importantly, if someone knows a fix:
    1. BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) **
    2. Random Shut-Downs **
    3. Disk Boot Failure {sometimes fails to recognize primary SSD (OS drive), 5 minute cool down solves problem}
    4. RAID 1 "stutter" reads {installed latest version of Intel 64-bit RAID software}

    Basic configuration:
    i7 930
    GA-X58A-UD3R (rev 2) FA
    SSD 128 GB (OS + Apps) - SATA2_0
    {SATA 2 - 128 GB Kingston 2.5 inch SATA Gaming MLC SSD}
    HDD 2x1TB in RAID 1 - SATA2_2 + SATA2_3
    {SATA 2 1 TB/32MB Cache/7200RPM HDD (Hitachi HDS721010CLA332)}
    6 GB 2GBx3/DDR3/1600/Corsair Dominator
    ~H50 Fan
    WIN 7 Pro x64bit

    (**) The problems occur "typically" when Heavy accessing of the RAID 1 data. 100% of the time running ATTO benchmark shuts down the PC w/i 1-2 minutes.

    I've tried clearing BIOS -> reset {clear CMOS} -> Optimized settings + ICH SATA Control mode [RAID (XHD)] as the ONLY changes ; YES, the HDDs (x2/1TB) Ctrl-I were ALREADY paired.

    In addition, I've noticed several similar issues @ Tomshardware, and I've posted a ticket at Gigabyte.

    Thanks!

    does it do it when overclocked and stock clocks? what are your voltages for cpu and qpi/vtt,using all intel ports?

    NOT OC'd at all, and I was hoping you'd reply.

    As I mentioned, I'm using (optimized only a/k/a stock) and turning RAID (XHD) for the RAID. (not to be confused w/Extreme Hard Drive X.H.D.). The memory is under-clocked @1066 ~ again the Load Optimized only... In addition, I've even tried to run WIN 7 in "Diagnostic" mode....

    I've been monitoring Toms and there are a bunch of folks having issues with the on-board Intel RAID 0 or 1.

    BTW - I noticed the issue after I transfered data over as a HOT swap using the quick mount on top of my CM 690II Case (GSATA_8/9)...???

    i dont have much experience with raid as i havnt used a raid setup yet but lsdmeasap will help when hes on or anyone else with more knowledge,its either sata/driver related or maybe memory voltage as in qpi/vtt voltage related? maybe you need a touch more qpi/vtt voltage due to high data with raid setup? i will randomly crash similar to what you described and at start ups with not enough qpiv

    Interesting idea, {qpi/vtt voltage related} yet a flaw in the MOBO considering (3) drives; the SSD is <10W @ peak.

    yh but if the data has to pass through your memory and the speed of the data is so fast that the memory controller inside the cpu cant cope so maybe a slight tweak on qpi/vtt voltage will fix it,im only guessing but its worth a try and test it,try with 1.32000v on qpi/vtt,it still could be driver issue

    its not advised to leave cpu,qpi/vtt and dram voltage on auto anyway,you get best stabilty and lower temps by manually setting those

    Will do! Easy to try, and it'll make my life easier if it does! Need to set it up again (1 HR), was getting ready for RMA...

    you can set it back if it doesnt work and wait to see what lsdme says,or send him a pm

    test between 1.300000 to 1.360000v for qpi/vtt

    NO JOY - tried 1.30, 1.34, and 1.36 {stock 1.20} actually the 1.36 failed ATTO fastest and within 10 seconds. Failed = PC SHUT DOWN for all voltages attempted.
