    Question SSD + RAID 1 HDD - BIOS SATA Port 0-3 Native Mode window 7 x64

    I've read MANY conflicting posts RE: BIOS settings for SATA port 0-3 Native Mode window 7 x64.

    In my case I do have both a 128 GB SSD SATA II {OS + APPS) plus a 1 TB in RAID 1 HDD {Data}. BIOS is currently:
    1. ICH SATA Control Mode = [RAID (XHD)]
    2. SATA Port0-3 Native Mode = [Disabled]
    3. Ctrl-I ~ RAID paired

    SATA2_0 ~ 128 GB Kingston 2.5 inch SATA II Gaming MLC SSD
    SATA2_2 ~1TB HDD SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Hitachi HDS721010CLA332)
    SATA2_3 ~1TB HDD SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Hitachi HDS721010CLA332)

    MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (rev 2) ~ FA

    I suggest you use Native Mode enabled for RAID.

    Do you get the same issues if you set the RAID like this instead of with XHD:

    Intel Controller (Blue Ports)
    eXtreme Hard Drive (Intel ICH10R Chipset) ........................ Nothing here/disabled
    ICH SATA Control Mode (Intel ICH10R Chipset) ..................... RAID
    SATA Port0-3 Native Mode (Intel ICH10R South Bridge) ............. Enabled per suggestion

    Why did you skip SATA_1?

    A - "Why did you skip SATA_1" - I purposefully left {SATA2_1 blank} in case I added a second 128 GB Kingston in RAID 0. It probably wouldn't or shall I say "shouldn't matter which order they're in.

    SATA2_0 ~ 128 GB Kingston 2.5 inch SATA II Gaming MLC SSD
    SATA2_1 ~ 128 GB Kingston 2.5 inch SATA II Gaming MLC SSD - "Future added drive"
    SATA2_2 ~1TB HDD SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Hitachi HDS721010CLA332)
    SATA2_3 ~1TB HDD SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Hitachi HDS721010CLA332)

    RAID 0 SSD {OS + Apps}
    RAID 1 HDD {Data}

    I personally would never trust important data to a RAID 0 array {1/2 = 0 Data}, but losing OS or Apps is no big deal just an opportunity to clean house.

    Ahh ok about SATA2_1, I just wondered - it's not an issue.
