Default GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L Phase LED and no bootup

I'm having a problem with bootup with this motherboard and searching around led me to this thread http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ga-p...ds-mean-26800/ where another user was experiencing a similar problem.

I moved yesterday and had my computer right next to me for the drive, nothing happened to it and it wasn't jarred outside of normal driving. When I set it up at my new place I got no boot up at all - no fans, lights, sounds or anything. Figuring the power supply was shot I bought a new one and installed it which leads me to the current problem.

I tried to find more information on what the phase led lights mean but couldn't. The first two are green, third is yellow, and fourth is red. I have no clue what that combination means and any help would be appreciated.

phase leds show the northbridge activity/voltage and ram voltage/activity,did you unplugg your gpu and re-install?? do this and same thing for your memory and hdd's,try clearing the cmos by removing mb battery for 30mins,remember this will wipe any oc/bios settings you had, check all power cables 24pin 8/4pin makesure everything is securely plugged in

I unplugged and removed everything except the motherboard, power supply, and processor and have the same phase led configuration. I then put back one stick of memory, turned on the system, and then repeated once with each slot. Still the same phase led configuration. I then removed the memory and put the graphics card in, same phase led configuration. I then tried it with both the graphics card and one stick of memory in, same phase led configuration.

Is there a thorough guide to the phase led setup? I'd really like to know what phase is failing with 2 green, 1 yellow and 1 red configuration.

Phase led is like the audio eqilizer leds, it doesn't represent diagnostic output. The more leds lit, the more more Cpu phases are active. These usually stay lit until Windows logo appears, then if easy saver software is installed, only 2 green leds are left, and the third yellow turns on during the cpu load < 30 watts, and >30 watts is all 4 active.

I had simmilar problem, my power outlet wasn't properly grownded. I had 220V running on every part of my PC. Good thing it wasn't damaged.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

So the led combination I have *should* mean that the processor is working fine, no? I'm still at a loss for what is keeping my computer from posting and I'm really wary of buying new parts without having this figured out.

What brand/model of cpu cooler are you using?
Is it a large/heavy upright tower cooler?
Have you verified that the cooler is still securely attached?
Did you try re-installing the cpu and cooler? Did you inspect the cpu socket for possible bent pins?

We can best help you if you add a detailed hardware list to your forum signature.
Be sure to let us know which recommended procedures you've tried so far, e.g. bios clear, re-seat cpu, etc.

Since you moved it I would check all cables, and as mentioned above remove the CPU and reinstall it as it may not be seated fully now since you drove around with the PC.

I've reseated everything in the computer, including the processor. I've reset the CMOS jumper. I don't have another setup to swap parts with so I'm somewhat stuck here.

profJim, I'm using the stock cpu cooler and the cpu is listed in the op.

NEW THING: the power led stays lit, but the front power switch isn't working when connected. Neither is the reset switch. Does this give anybody an idea?

Sounds like you might have a short possibly.

You should get it out of the case and OFF the motherboard tray, then try it on a cardboard box or non-metal table and see if you can start it that way.
