I would like to go a bit higher so if possible 4.5GHz I'm running on water at idle my temps are at 20c-27c full load 44c-52c. Now heres a BIG problem I am having and I PRAY to god someone can help me. I have 6GB of ram however when changed processors from the i7 930 to 980x it only has 4 gigs as listed. It says in Tast manager that 2gigs is being reserved for hardware. I have read that alot of people are getting this and I have tried about everything from CHECKING PINS/ to MSCONFIG and no luck! I have tested each memory and they all work. when I install my old processor back in it is showing 6gb full but for some reason with this 980x it will not show the full 6gb in bios. Maybe I need to add some more voltages somewhere? So far I have a stable clock at 4.2Ghz been running test did over 30 linx test 20 intel burn test and stable as rock now running Prime overnight on desktop but can someone please help me with this Memory issue because I have the most recent BIOS as well.

Sounds like you might have bent some CPU pins when you changed your CPU, can you please look before we go any further?

It could be settings though, like not enough QPI/Vtt or too much. It's often pins bent or an uneven, or too much/not enough pressure on your CPU mount, so best to check the socket that way if all is fine you will redo the mounting anyway.

Do NOT Use MSConfig max memory, and if you have go and set it back to default

Since you have checked the socket, are you 100% sure it was OK? Did you take any pics? If not would you mind doing so from a few angles just to be sure?

If it is settings it would be your QPI/Vtt, did you try more/less yet?

You may also want to leave the QPI/Vtt as it is for now, and first test less Uncore as 980X only needs 1.5 x memory multi, so you would be better off with x15-20 for now since you are having issues.

Once we get this sorted I can help you overclock higher, and then it might come back again too until you fix it, but fixing it now will help you know how to later.

Hi and thanks for the reply I checked the pins on the CPU for about 3 hours this morning to make sure and all pins are good to go. When I put my 930 it shows all memory but my 980 it doesn't. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of all the pins. I will try other ideas you listed as well because thats what I was thinking too with the voltages.

Ok, if you are sure they are fine then we will move on, sounds like they are anyway since your 930 is ok with all memory.

Ya, it can easily be caused by incorrect voltages or settings, here is a nice list of the many possible causes

Okay took photo's and I believe I found 2 pins that are bent but I will wait for you to confirm as well to make sure. I'm using water cooled

I see SEVERAL bent pins, I'll circle them and then re-upload the images for ya.

    Give me a few minutes

You are going to have to RMA if you want 6GB of memory to work

Okay while you were looking at the pictures I guess you saw what I saw I bent 3 pins back into place and FINALLY booted back into bios to see FULL 6gb. I feel like such an idiot. I swear to god if I didn't take a picture I would have never seen those pins. I'm guessing that when I hooked up my water setup i clapped down to tight. In the picture the pins look bad however they were just slightly shifted to the side because of the water block. In Bios I'm showing full 6gb.

Here, all bent pins I see, 8 of them and possibly 1-2 others as well.

Also, in the middle, is that a scratch or the way the light is it hitting it? Circled in a different color

Ohh nice to see you got it working!

I thought some looked like they could be fixed, others I wasn't so sure about because of the lighting in the images I couldn't tell how bad or not so bad a few of them were bent.

Tightness of your block shouldn't do that. Just be very careful whenever you have your socket open because any little thing can catch and bend a pin, such as a brush with your hand or towel, dropping the CPU (OUCH), ect

Yes in total there were 3 pins the ones you circled in the middle thats actually under the pin socket in that little middle area its not a pin but something else that is connecting the socket in place or something but YOU WERE right as always. GOD I am glad after all this time you still here because if you didn't get me to take a picture I would have believed what I saw with my eyes.

Okay to get this baby up to 4.4 - 4.5 what settings from what I already have should I change? also prior to switching chips i had my memory at 2000MHz so if I can get that back as well would be great. Here is my BIOS settings so far.
