sorry for treading old ground,i didnt read through all the previous posts,it does seem strange for no nvidia cards to work though seeing that the board supports either brand,i cant remember anyone else posting issues with nvidia and that board and as for my board id hope it would work with an nvidia card too as ive only used ati cards

Im sure some nV cards probably work fine, Ive seen people on these forums and through other google searches with 9xxx nvidia graphics cards and stating no issues at all. Its probably certain cards or series which are affected.

I appreciate all the support from you guys here in this forum, it has been an invaluable resource for me thus far :)
And I will always try out the suggestions from you guys to get any system issues I have (ones which i can't fix on my own) resolved.

If there is no current way to get the hardware to run together, I am quite confident, now, that changing the mobo will solve the immediate issues for my customer anyway, so in the end the result is still that the problem is solved, I just get the opportunity to help discover a problem which can be fixed through bios development (weather it be with the mobo or card or both)

    This system must hate me.

I changed the X58-UD3R to an Asus P6X58D-E, with a Single card of any brand/peformance level, it runs flawless for far longer then ever before, but when I set it to sli mode and start testing it I get 0x00000101 bsod on windows log in !! >__<

Also hard lockup (with no display change, so it freezes showing the welcome text).

I think these sort of instabilities I can deal with. since both are more to do with CPU volt / imc settings.

I know that this mobo is an asus but can you guys still help advise me on tweaking it?

Do you think the cpu may be shot after all? it can linpack no problem. There certainly is some kind of strain on the system still when its set to sli mode causing instability. >_>

Tried higher then stock QPI vtt, tried another PSU, tried underclocking the ram at 1066, tried its stock 1333.

Its the 3D clocks on the cards, when I talked to gigabyte they mentioned that some known problems were switching between 2d and 3d clocks on some of the fermi cards.

seems theyre right, because after I truned off aero, the issues stopped happening.

Did you uninstall Realtek network drivers and update them to the latest one in their website? Latest update is from this August. Most motherboard cd-drivers has the one from march which creates a conflict with sli-setups.

BSOD 101 means more Vcore 99% of the time, in case you were unsure.

I saw a thread on P55 that made me think of your issue here, maybe the same this user found as a problem his P55 is what you are experiencing?
    [US48] P55 Boards, i5 750, 4GB DDR3 1600 - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

He summed it up after much testing to be a problem with only PCIE 2.1 cards, I know you found ATI to work fine but just wasn't sure if you tried a PCIE 1.0 or 2.0 Nvidia card or not?

Default Re: GA-EX58A-UD3R and 2 x Gigabyte GTX 465 SLI posting issue

nVidia PCIE 1 and 2.0 cards have problems with the mobo model. I only had a select few cards to try but the ones I tried will not allow the board to power up at all (GT240 & 8500GT). I tried 5450 and 5830 and they worked flawlessly (pcie 2.0 or 2.1?)

As for after the motherboard replacement, the issue seems to be specifically only when the cards are in SLI and when Aero is enabled. Im fairly certain its a problem with the 3D clocks being too high on the card, but have never underclocked graphic cards before.

(only in sli->) I had the same issues on both the asus and the gigabyte motherboard, and with the gigabyte motherboard tried various ways to install the drivers each time i reinstalled trying to correct the problems, 1 way was to let the windows update pick the best drivers after installation, another was from the disc, another was from getting them directly from the manufacturers websites, nothing helped.

LSD, thats some sort of sales thread, what is the issue you noticed from there? o_O

So, after much testing It would seem that graphics and mobo both have got serious compatibility issues, the mobo has major issues with old nv cards, and even the latest 465 cards (single) will not run properly. Yet I also have a specific issue with the 465 cards, they run flawlessly in single on the new asus board, but when put into sli and when Aero is enabled, they still f*$@ up. (fml)

I am calling the owner of the system in the morning, and if it turns out they're happy with extended desktop and Surround and SLI is not a must, then I will be taking back one card and the system will be fine, if they must have surround and sli, then I can only tell them that they cannot run aero due to the cards having problems with 3D clocks and not having a bios available for them to fix the issue yet.

I tell you though if they had just wanted an eyefinity6 card, every single problem I have had would not have happened, granted they shouldn't happen anyway, after spending weeks stressing and putting dozens of hours of troubleshooting into this issue, I am really turned off fermi and also not pleased with the maturity of some of the new GB mobos.

Ya, sorry I didn't mention it. It is a sales thread, but if you scroll down a bit you can see his comments on the board issues with GFX Cards, and what he tested to work and what did not.

I know it's not the same board, but his issues sounded kinda similar to me so I thought maybe you would want to have a look.

As for your customer, if he must have aero (And yes, it's a must), maybe you should talk him into ATI
