Sorry, I meant to say test 4.00D at 401 FSB! My bad!

4.00B should work ok, if you keep FSB under 400

It doesn´t boot with 4.00B? because running 333 will give u divider 1:2, wich is much quicker than 4.00D... it should work fine with fsb 400 btw.

    400fsb fails at both 4.00B and 4.00D
    333fsb fails at both 4.00B and 4.00D

currently running 400 fsb at 3.33D

all my new parts came today so on friday after i get the watercooling in with the new case and powersupply i will keep mucking with it...
    btw should i use the mushkin 2000mhz 7-10-8 @1.65v or the G.skill 1600mhz 6-8-6-24 @ 1.6V sticks when i put it back together?

333 FSB should be fine at 4.00B, once you find the proper ram and MCH voltages, loosen up tRD if you have that set tight.

The beast is back together and water-cooled!! Got a 1000w strider psu:)

So far I have only been able to get 345fsb to be stable next days off I will get into trying to get 400fsb to be happy with memory @ 1:2.

If I use the loosest SPD settings I can find on the ram would that be a better place to start? Or should I trust the manufactures 1600mhz cl6 settings?

Could the quick ram + 5850 be overloading the bus on start up?

I fail to see the reason to have ram at 1:2. With water colling you are not going to stay at 400MMHz FSB so why even bother?
BTW there a newer BIOS F5L in the BIOS sticky (page 2) dated 25th Feb. 2010.

Sweet thanks for the heads up on the bios :) edit: sure thats not F5i? i'm already running that ( F5I F5l look same same ) downloaded it anyway to see.

Am I wrong in aiming to run the ram at it's native 1600mhz CL6 settings? I got all the parts with the goal of a 775 system with a 400fsb 24/7 setting. Did I stuff up on part selection?

As far as memory goes performance will be about the same with 1333 CL5 at 400MHz FSB.
Being water cooled you camn probably go much higher with the Q9550.

Vcore seems a bit low, is this Prime95 stable, have you ran IBT/LinX (what GFlops you get if you did)?

Maybe a lower tRD, 8 may be possible with CAS 6.
