    Default P45T strange boot issues

    hi guys,

    my system is :-
    P45T-extreme
    Q9550
    G.skill Pi DDR3 1600mhz cl6@1.6v
    antec 650W
    ati sapphire 5850

    the issue:-
first boot of the day will not boot unless its under the "default i just recovered from bad OC" settings. i can even go into the bios and set the exact settings manually and it will fall over.
boot process hangs on C1 the starts again 3 times with the 3rd boot being with these default settings.

now for the strangeness... after using the computer for a bit i can restart, set my settings to :-
    gfx booster - turbo
    fsb 400
    mem - turbo
    speed and timings - 1600 6-8-6-24 @1.6v
    vcore 1.25v
everything else stock ( i can leave auto or set manually to stock settings )

after this initial "warm up" i can push fsb-450 mem-1800 but its unstable ( still learning settings :) )

    i have tried:-

    remove battery
    clear cmos
    original bios/ f4 bios/ f5g bios
load default and double check settings
single memory stick tried in all 4 slots
other memory stick tried in all 4 slots
    dual in channel 1/3
    dual in channel 2/4
    remove all but essential parts
evenly distribute perfs on psu rails

any help would be awesome .. might even get a cookie :)

c1 error is a ram error, maybe a touch more northbridge voltage or ram voltage? maybe? try mem turbo on standard?

Don't leave VTT PLL and MCH Core on auto.
Please read http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post295784, follow the suggestions for manual stock settings and provide the information as described in steps 1-4.

I see a F5i BIOS on GB site, maybe that will help.
And the same happen with the suggested settings as in that post? Can you post full settings.
And don't forget to fill your signature with your system specs.

Have you tried booting with Performance Enhance = Standard?
When your system won't cold boot properly, note the following settings when you can enter the bios:
    PHP Code:
Advanced Clock Control ------- [Press Enter]
CPU Clock Drive ---------------- : ??? <-- show the values displayed in your bios for these four settings
    PCI Express Clock Drive
    -------- : ???
    CPU Clock Skew (ps) ------------ : ???
    MCH Clock Skew (ps) ------------ : ???
Do not change these settings manually.
If Optimized bios defaults are still applied, these values will be 800, 900, 0, 0 for your mobo.

Are you having problems with memory slots 1 & 3?
Have you tried booting with only one memory module installed to see if this helps with cold boot issues?
Which Antec 650W psu model are you using?
Can you test with a borrowed psu to see if this helps?
For now, you might need to configure your memory for 1066MHz speeds until your system is booting properly and is stable.

FWIW, the Gskill memory configurator for your EP45T-Extreme suggests the following kits:

Default Re: P45T strange boot issues

    Have tried standard
Have't touched those settings as yet
All configurations of slots with single and dual sticks has been tried
System was on for a few hours when I moved sticks and tried 400fsb settings so it could have been that
New psu coming at end of month silverstone strider 1000w
Doesn't matter what I set mystery "default" will be the only ones that boot until system has been on for a while

Thanks for the replies so far
