Cool EP35-DS3R Q9300 Overclock help needed!

    Hi guys,

I'm new to the whole overclocking thing and need some help with it.
I cannot overclock my Q9300 more than 3105MHz on my EP35-DS3R mobie. It blue screens and is not stable on higher speed than that. My RAM is Transcend aXeRam TX1066QLU-2GK. I've installed a Thermaltake Frio cooler (and is awesome!!) I've overcloked my Graphics card GTX260 - no problem. I see guys overclocking the Q9300 to 3.7 - 3.8 GHz but I cannot come close to that. Where do I start?
This is what I have according to Everest:
CPU Clock 3105.0 MHz (original: 2500 MHz, overclock: 24%)
    CPU Multiplier 7.5x
CPU FSB 414.0 MHz (original: 333 MHz, overclock: 24%)
    Memory Bus 496.8 MHz
    DRAM:FSB Ratio 12:10
    Award BIOS Message EP35-DS3R F4

This is what I have done:

    Robust Graphics Booster___________ [auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [7.5]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [414]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [110]
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [2.40]
    RAM ____________________993.6MHz
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]
    Performance Enhance = [AUTO]

    CAS Latency Time________________ 5
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 5
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______5
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 15
ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ Auto
Rank Write to READ Delay________ Auto
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ Auto
    Refresh to ACT Delay______________ Auto
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ Auto
    Static tRead Value_______________ Auto
    Static tRead Phase Adjust________ Auto

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.2V]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V]
    CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.368V]

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    cyberj

BIOS supporting Q9300 is F11 and above.
    You may need higher MCH.
Try Ctrl+F1 in main BIOS screen and see if it adds GTLREFs options to M.I.T.

EDIT: oops that was BIOS for P35-DS3R... forget it.

    Try this for 450 FSB,

Your issues may just be that your CPU doesn't like high speeds, or you are not giving it enough voltage :)

    Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Fast]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [7.5]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [450]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [2.00]
    RAM ____________________993.6MHz
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]

Performance Enhance = [AUTO] Set Standard

    CAS Latency Time________________ 5
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 5
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______5
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 15

ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ Auto
Rank Write to READ Delay________ Auto
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ Auto
Refresh to ACT Delay______________ 52-62 if 4GB of memory, fine in auto if 2GB
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ Auto
Static tRead Value_______________ Set to 9 for now
    Static tRead Phase Adjust________ Auto

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.2V] Set to your ram voltage, +0.2 = 2.0V
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V]
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V] This may be ok or try +0.2
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V] If you have 4GB ram you may need +0.2-0.3
CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.368V] May need 1.35-1.45+

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. I tried all the settings but the only way I could get to 450FSB was to set my CPU Voltage to 1.5V !!! And even then my Battlefield Bad Company 2 bombed out after 2 rounds... My CPU ran nice and cool and didn't exceed 32Celcius.

I am currently running at 440FSB = 3300MHz - but 1.45V on my CPU! Is this the best I can do? and is the 1.45V ok for my CPU or am I going to kill it?

    Thanks,
    cyberj

1.45 is fine, is that under load or idle, or just what you set in the BIOS?

1.45V in the bios. But it looks like it's only running at 1.42V under load. I still get the odd blue screen every now and then and Bad Company 2 just crashes, but again not all the time...

    What else am I missing?

What is the BSOD Code? The last 3 digits are what's important, looks like 0x00000101

Lsd - sorry m8 but there is no BSOD error... - just this: "Crash dump initialization failed!"
So I realised that my System Failure Options weren't ticked!
I ticked it now and will hammer the pc so that it would crash and then I'll post it.
Thanks for all your help M8!
    Talk to you later...

109 I have found to be Ram voltage actually, sometimes too much but often too little.

Try a bump both ways until you get rid of that BSOD, I'd test more first as I mostly run into this with too little dram voltage.
