no,you would need to pull 6gb out,or underclock your 12gb ram speed maybe that would help with stability? from what ive seen the 930 chips arnt so good overclockers as the 920's,im not saying all are bad but most of them esp when using a 22x cpu multiplier

try with the settings i gave you or in sig for 4.2ghz and 6gb of ram and see if you have more success, tweak voltages if needed but try with template settings first, then you will know its 12gb of ram thats causing problems, esp at that high an overclock

That would mean having to remove my Noctua and i am short on TIM so i can't try that ATM, one advantage to WC I suppose is the ease of access to components, untill you pull a tube out by mistake !!

ahh i forgot about that cooler, try underclocking the ram if its running at 1600mhz try 1440 or 1333? then push for 4.2ghz with current voltages?

Yes currently testing that I am having some joy with RAM at 600 (1200) as opposed to rated 1600 and am lowering CPU volts and am seeing some good temps

My last BSOD was an 0x050 which i thnk is mem timing or uncore freq, i forgot to change my uncore multi from 17 which i used for my old 8X. So i have set the multi to x13 for my x6 RAM multi

However i had also tightened my RAM timings since i had slowed the RAM and if I still get the same BSOD i will try loosning them

Oh I give up ..how many times have i said that to myself ?? It is like a fu$$ing kid, it cries for this, you give it that , it cries for something else, you give it that, it throws that out of it's pram goes blue in the face and BSOD's. Overclocking put the SOD in BSOD !!

I think i will live with 4.0 Ghz and maybe up a notch every now and again and see how my daily 3D works with that..bSOD off Prime 95 !! If my 3D work is content then who needs your bloody prime numbers !! I am not running a heart and lung machine

Sorry for the rant but i bet a few others have kicked the cat doing this

At the end of the day RAM quantity is fairly critical for me as i do a lot of stuff that often calls for 12 GB RAM, the few mins lost from 4.2 Ghz to 4.0 Ghz I will live with till i can amass enough cash to get a 6 core - but if and when i do get a six core i bet it will not be long before the bug hits again and i am trying for 4.2 on that !!

So you settled for 4Ghz then? If so is all working properly at that speed?

If you want, give me your full 4.2Ghz settings you were trying and I will advise back. Maybe you were missing something?

As for cooling, which I think is what in the end is limiting your OC capabilities, please do not dismiss the Corsair H50 all in one sealed water cooling (with additional fan), or even the new H70, they are very good solutions and at an attractive/competitive price.

    Best wishes from Jure Z.

The H50 cannot compete with the Noctua NH-D14 the H70 may come close but it is far more expensive

Lsdmeasap... i will put my template up tommorrow, got some rendering to do today

I haven't read all your post word for word but I will say this. My 930 and most 930's suck compared to 920's. My 930 would top out around 4 - 4.2ghz and it needs A LOT more voltage then my 920. My 920 will do 4.5 with 1.4v llc enabled 1.315-1.355 vtt. If you need 1.5v for anything less then 4.5ghz I would settle for 4ghz or toss it and get a 920.

Side note if you are getting bsod check on the error code

    0x0000050 is memory timings/uncore multi
    0x0000101 not enough vcore
0x0000124 is incorrect qpi/vtt voltage to much/not enough.

If your settings are really out of wack 124 and 101 can revers them selves.

Also found that DVID doesnt work after around 200 bclk. If I need 1.35vcore for 200 bclk I would set dvid 1.25+ 0.1000 or even 1.25+0.1150 or higher it still would not boot or be stable I set back to 1.35 and everything would be fine.

i havnt really tried any higher using dvid, for me 4.2 using 200bclk and dvid works fine, ive been as high as 215x21 but i couldnt test for stability because of air and temps, but i could run cinebench without issue and that was without dvid so i cant comment on that, and for my mb the latest final bios f12 seems the most stable although f13j is pretty good

ive read lots of complaints about those 930 chips wishing they hadnt of parted with their 920's
