these two articles agree with your statement about the better temperatures achieved with the Noctua:

    Would you go with a Noctua NH-D14 or Corsair H50 in my case? - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Lsdmeasap - here are settings that cause a Pime 95 freeze and the stopped working, note the RAM is rated at 1.65 i set 1.66 in Bios but Hwmonitor shows it at 1.63. I have tried upping volts on VTT and Cpu but there is always something it winges about, i have tried undeclocking the RAM etc still no Joy. At 1.5 V CPU it may be stable but temps are too high to do a full Prime.

I set RAM as expert 9-9-9-24-2T but left all other RAM settings on Auto
    CPU Spread Spectum is OFF

First off, disable C1E and EIST, that may be all that is causing you issues.

As for your ram voltage, you say setting 1.66 is 1.63 in windows? That should be what you get if you set 1.64, see what 1.68 gives you or you may need to try a older/newer BIOS

For 12GB of memory you may also need higher QPI/Vtt

I know i said i had given up but.... funniliy enough i have been testing with EIST and C1E off and am making some progress but i have lowered my mem divider to x6 (600 Mhz) so i am not playing with RAM volts yet just enough VTT to keep the 124 BSOD at bay. Occasionaly Prime will stop working on blend tests and i am guessing that would have been mem QTT. I will let you know how i get on but i am using LLC 1 and find i need more than 1.38 CPU-Z load volts for the CPU but prime temps are sort of acceptable at Max 85 ( means under 80 during rendering) but knowing this OC i bet i will have to feed it some more volts

Back to the same old 101 - give it more volts- 124 give it more qtt- 101 give it more volts

Yes i have heard that. just adds more confusion to the game !! At the moment i had prime running for 1 hour then i got the prime stopped working message, My temps were Max 83-89 across the cores so i have pushed the cpu volts up a notch but will not prime with that, instead i will do some heavy 3D simulations and renders and if all is stable for a few days i will post the settiings
