    Default USB3 Issue X58A-UD7

I have a weird issue with my USB3 ports.

I have an external 2.5" USB3 Enclosure/Drive. Every time I connect it to the PC in the USB3 ports, Windows 7 tells me that it recognises that this drive would run faster in a USB3 port (to which it is already connected).

I have pulled apart the drive to check it, doesn't seem to be any problems. Using the USB3 cord supplied with the enclosure. I have tried reformatting the external drive as well as disabling any jumper settings on the drive.

Doesn't seem to be doing anything.

All drivers are up to date and OS is up to date. Also updated the firmware for USB3 to the latest.

    System Specs

    Xeon W3520 @ 4.42Ghz
    X58A-UD7 with F7w bios
    6GB Corsair Dominator GT's
    2 x HD5870
    Asus Xonar D2X
    Corsair HX-1000
    Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Watercooled CPU

I have a theory in mind as to why it might not be working, but I'll see if you guys can help before I tell you.

    Thanks again guys and girls.

No option to enable legacy devices in BIOS and USB3 is enabled in bios.

Firmware update for the NEC USB 3.0 controller found on many of Gigabyte's latest motherboards, including X58A-UD7 . The update is primarily for the purposes of improving USB 3.0 device compatibility.

On this page...where would I find legacy USB settings (this is not a screenshot of my actual bios but a general screenshot of a UD7 bios)? View Image Motherboards.org

I have just tested the drive on a USB3 connection at work and it doesn't go faster than 51000 on the read or write on the ATTO benchmark. I have a feeling it's the actual enclosure that might be the problem. It doesn't seem to be performing properly.

If you can show me where in Integrated Peripherals the setting for Legacy USB Devices is, I can try that when I get home.

That's probably the USB Storage Function in your BIOS.
