I've tried it set to Raid in the Bios, also native ports was enabled, made no difference.

Stasio says there will be a Bios update coming soon, so I shall wait for that, if that doesn't work then it'll be time to try HDDErase and fresh install.

Ya they are rolling out the fixes for Smart SSD issues, so that may fix this, so if you can wait for an update you may want to instead of further testing

Just tried the latest Bios F11b which addressed the OCZ Smart issue, it never fixed my problem, so I'm going to have to try plan B. Erase and reinstall.

Edit: Thats me back up and running on the Intel SSD, now to erase the OCZ and give that a try, I'll know if it's worked before I even install.

Edit: Secure erase did the trick, OCZ drive is now back in on the Intel controller in Raid mode, now to see if I can clone the Intel back to the OCZ, can't be bothered to try a re-install.

Edit: OS copied back over to OCZ drive and alls working well, guess one of the programs I used when first trying to clone my OS caused the problem, as to which one it could be either Paragon or O&O, as I just used Acronis 2010 and all went well, except Windows ran chkdsk when I first booted from the OCZ drive.

looks like there is still a problem to P55-UD5 if you have the latest firmware 1.11

Technical Discussion do you own a Gigabyte motherboard and have the SMART error with FW1.11...look inside
    i7 870 (4.08GHz) / Crosair H70
    4 x 2GB G. Skill DDR3 2200MHz CL7-10-10-26
    Gigabyte P55A-UD6
    2 x MSI HD5870 Lightning II
    4 x OCZ Vertex2 60GB in RAID 0 (OS)
    1 x VelociRaptor SATA3 6GB/s 600GB (games)
    1 x WD BLACK SATA2 2TB (storage)
    Crosair AX1200 power
    LG 8X Blu Ray rewriter
    Plextor 24X DVD rewriter
    Lian Li PC-60FNW

Nice to see you got this sorted out!

Now check your alignment to be sure it's proper since you used a cloning program as they do not all keep alignments properly.

I get no errors, and no hanging, works a treat. It was something in the cloning that caused the problem for me.

Alignments perfect, I used this handy calculator to check. It seems that Acronis 2010 will clone an already aligned W7 partition correctly, although they've just released 2011 and from what I was reading it still does not handle alignment correctly, I think the main problem is when cloning an XP installation. I also used Acronis to clone my W7 media center installation from a hard drive to an SSD and that was also aligned correctly.

PS Hard drive performance in the Windows Performance Index went from 7.1 to 7.4 by just changing to the Intel controller. I've also turned off the Gigabyte Sata ports, which greatly speeds up reboots.

I use Drive Snapshot for all my cloning purposes now, it will close to an already aligned partition, and it can backup a system and disregard the alignment which is very helpful when you want to re-image to a partition that is aligned differently.

AS SSD benchmark is a easy to way to see your alignment, in case you didn't know. Select the disk in question and it will show the alignment value and a Green OK if it's fine, or a Red Bad if it's not aligned

Thanks for the info on Drive Snapshot.

I was aware of AS SSD, I even have it installed, but alas had forgotten about the useful (and quick) little feature that it checks alignment.

Ya AS SSD is nice, be sure to update to the latest if you haven't already as the older one doesn't do the alignment check
