you might be using too much cpu voltage,1.22500v should be anough for 4.2ghz so try with dvid set to its normal setting, you can enable all the c-states except for c1e keep that disabled, every cpu/mb will be different for example my chip needs/uses 1.18750v on normal setting so you will need to tweak things a little

note OCCT settings have max tenp at 80 C you will have to change this in config to 95 C else OCCT will fail saying temps are too hot ( id not usually use OCCT but i am getting temps of 87 at the moment with it)

At the moment these settings give very high temps and are not for day to dya work, if i cannot lower them i am not sure if it is worth spending 200 + on a good water cooling setuo or just save for a 6 core

You can but it depends what you do i would not prime or OCCt 24x7 at those temps !! I do rendering and sim work which maxes at about 85 C and i will accept that for several hours at a time since the CPU rarely stays at 100 % load

I run my easy 4.0 Ghz profile day to day and swithch to the 4.2 when doing rendering and sim work

If you are just playing games and watching movies you do not need a high overclock, 3.6 to 3.8 ghz will do You can also switch off hyperthreading as mots games will be worse with HT on, this will allow for even lower temps amd cpu volts

Set all volts to auto except RAM ( 1.66-1.98) and QPI-VTT to 1.375v CPU to 1.3875 v then play with the BCLK with a 21 mutiplier till you are happy with a stable overclock, leave LLC at standard
