Don't forget to save BIOS profile so you can always recover the settings.
i will run the Prime95 when i have time to let it sit which shouldn't be too long. I have the settings saved in a few spots so i don't lose it plus printed out.

What settings do i use for prime95 or better yet which test. i have 4 selections in the torture test so which one would be best to run.

One question, Prime95 tests the CPU more so than the ram from what i'm reading. WHy would we be concerned so much with the cpu at this time other than to be sure the cpu is working fine. Do i really need to heat up the cpu if i'm not overclocking. i'm curious about this

wholly jebus thats a lot of posts in a short space of time.
You may not be overclocking per se but you are "tweaking"
If going for memory bandwidth u should be able to get 8gb/s read.
    closer to 9 gb/s on write/copy.
Try using OCCT tests .If you get the "duck noise" within the first ten minutes of testing, chances are u wont be stable in prime.

Prime stress the CPU as well as memory, depending on the FFT size and configuration. As of now we have no other way to stress the memory with anything other then the CPU :-)

First run an hour or two In-place large FFT, then you can customize Prime95 blend test to run only large FFT.
Run Prime95, click Blend, click Custom, type 128 in Min FFT size, and OK.

I ran OCCT and cancelled it after 40 minutes. It seemed the screen saver was causing a problem. other than that it was ok. i'll run the prime tomorrow

In what Priority you had OCCT running?
Screen saver run in low priority(2), Prime95 runs as default at the lowest priority, This means that Prime95 will get CPU time only when there is no other software that need it, including screen savers.

priority in occt was normal. i did have other things open. i forget to run these things when nothing else is running. In fact i may do that now. i'll let you know tomorrow.

I ran Prime95 for an hour and 40 minutes under the custom setting of 128 min and all tests passed.
