Yeh PJ like it seems the 12v 20amp 240w supposed safety restriction has been removed.
Then again Im not looking for the most suitable power supply, supplies to replace what i have. Those things are like $250+ here.

Im more interested in a decent $50 solution(the new case to play around with is a bonus)
Im not saying modern current restricted multi rail wont work equally well ,my main psu does have what might be termed "trapped power" as it is tho.
Nothing too drastic ,if I dont want to "push the envelope" in testing, but as it is now with my cased psu Im limited on overclock.
Nothing so bad that I need to spend the price of a new cpu or gx card tho.
New current limited not so much any more multi rail or single rail doesnt really apply to me.
In my setup the rail limitations dont allow me to exploit the full psu potential ,mho.

Ill keep plugging away on the 750w dual soln.this is still out of case testing .
The dual 1000w (well ok 980w) I havent tried fully yet under load and i could probably use either inside the new case mounted in 5 1/4" drive bays, but the choice then is to vent them out the front /the back or perhaps out the top and leave te 5 1/4" bays free for dials and readouts :)
By out the back, I mean the additional psu/psu's exhaust fan venting into the pc case from the 5 1/4" drive bays (not ideal)
I dont think there will be room for 2 psu's to exhaust air out the back of the pc case unlike some of the $150 type cases.
Then again were "bang for your buck" (no I dont mean explosion and smoke bang) types.
Otherwise we would just go buy the gig x58 expensive mbrd, the i7 6 core 12 thread and all sorts of stuff ;0

Still awaiting case and "discontinued stock" fan controller and hdd cooler delivery,
Ill post pics if it works/tests and looks decent.

    Im stil at it.
original psu now supplies cpu, mbrd and peripherals.
supplementary psu is used atm solely for the 2. 6pin pcie gx connectors.
It takes up 2, 5 1/4 drive bays .but thats 2 of 4 and I only had one before so no big deal.
I also have 2 external 3.5 in bays and had none before.
    + like 5 internal 3.5 in bays (1 before)
for $20 the case, compucase 6a series is phenomenal.

Yes my solution is a " tweeking job",a corsaIR 750 W single rail would be better, fewr wires more space etc.
However I now have a 750 w psu which could run non overclocked sli cards if i upgrade.
Thanks to the wonders of split rail technology (ptooie) it goes something like this.

psu 1(500w total output rated) 400w 12v total
12v2 rail 18a max all to cpu
12v1 rail 15-18a max depending on load to 12v2=mbrd, drives ,fans +up to 75w to gx card from pcie slot.

psu 2(250w total output rated) 180w 12v total (jeantech $20 micro atx unit)..
    12v (single rail) 2x pcie 6pin gx card supplies of up to 75 w x 2(6ax2)=150w max.

\\\\\seems to be working well.. 12v output hasnt dropped below 11.9 v yet. Ill do some more extreme tests once I have filtration etc sorted.

Actually PJ, you will probably like this review of my "scandalous" 480w psu.. the advance atx 5000
Haha yeh it is like a 300w psu and the guy lighting a stick of dynamite gives u a clue to how the review will go.
Yes Im still using it,not highly stressed ;0 in my backup pc.
