i am just testing each module in memtest and they seem ok on their own so im guessing its uncore related. but why it stablises from day to day then goes bad on me i dunno.

im 200x20 blck and 8x17 on uncore

    here is the PROBLEM!

6gb back in the system and no more memory errors! no changes in bios.

how on earth am i meant to solve this.

I think this is QPI related somehow. when i try and run my RAM at rated 2000mhz i need over 1.45v on QPI just to get into windows. im pretty sure this chips got a duff imc.

you could have a poor set of ram,my first set of ocz reaper were poor, this set is much better, but i wouldnt run at 2000mhz anyway as it will need huge voltage and run your nb pretty hot, stick to 1800-1866 and try with around 1.35v for qpi and 1.66 in bios for dram voltage, set system performance enhance to standard

i have set them to 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1T same as last night which was stable.

it seems overnight the system loses its stability and next morning i get all these ram errors. this has happened 2 nights in a row now. if this happens every night then its go to be the motherboard and the bios/cmos degrading somehow?

do you have and sleep states enabled? or c-states in advanced cpu features? test without them enabled tonight and see if in the morning it gives errors,i dont think its your chip

na they are all off. my chip seems ok but refuses to boot on 2000mhz ram at 1.47 QPI so im guessing the imc is a bit limited. but it now seems fine again and stable at 1600mhz . tomorrow morning im going to test it again see if it loses stability.

2000Mhz is not easy for MANY 920-975 chips, it just requires too much QPI/Vtt and or ram voltages, it's not ideal for daily use at all most of the time.

1600-1900 would be much easier to stabilize and require less voltages to do so. Also using a ODD value CPU multi will allow you to use less vcore too, in case you didn't know.

The problem with 2000Mhz memory speeds is you have the uncore at 4Ghz which is taxing it hard, so if you do try again be sure you are using only x16 uncore for x8 multi, otherwise you will push the uncore past 4Ghz lessening your chances.

But again it would be best to not run 2000Mhz daily anyway, for benchmarking or short sessions it would be fine. Lower speeds with tighter timings is going to perform better or as good anyway, so there isn't really a need for 2000Mhz speeds.

i have been running at 1600 or 1750mhz ram and i still get odd stability issues and memory fails in Linx and memtest. the cpu seems rock solid but the imc / uncore doesnt. but then as i play with it a bit and not change any settings in the bios is stabilises its self and works all day.

    i dont understand it

Sounds like you need some tweaking still then.

If you need us to look at your 1600-1700 settings post them up and we'll try to help you get things sorted out
