For the P45 "only" 1.35v mch core is +0.25v of it's 1.1v default, same as 1.5v for the X48.
Absolute max vcore for P45 is 1.21v meaning u were 0.14v over it, for X48 absolute max is 1.375v, add 0.14v and it's 1.515v, and relatively (percent) it is even less for the X48.
There is realy no point comparing absolute values, they are different design.

As I recall +0.2 - +0.225v is usually suffitient, with GTLREF tweaking, perheps clock skews as well, search the forum.

You may have stayed with P45 though choices are limited and not very appealing.

    Check out Salty's X48 DQ6 E0 E8500 at 4085Mhz thread for some guidelines.

It's been a while since we helped him with his setup.

OK Jim. Im reading carefully hes post. but in any event hes MB is DDR2 is not the X48T. I been making more testings and it seems my limit is around 410/415 FSB. Im quite sure the RAM dont go any higer than 1660. Changing the FSB or MCH voltage I can,t see any improuvment. I keep 400 FSB for the moment, is 100% stable , but I hope to be capable to go at least at 425.

Don't get too hung up on 1600MHz memory speeds.
If you use the 3.33 memory multiplier, your memory will be about 1333MHz, and you can use tighter memory timings with the lower memory speed.
Overall system performance should be similar.
You might find that you'll have better performance with somewhat higher cpu speeds with lower memory speeds and tighter memory timings.

**edit** Salty's thread should give you a ballpark idea with some of the voltages, Obviously there will be differences with the different cpu and memory setups.

An X48 is radically different compared to a P45. Different latencies, different circuit design, twice the number of PCIe lanes etc all mean that the chipset generally requires more voltage. There's nothing wrong with that. It's like the difference between a Porsche 911 and a Bugatti Veyron. The Bugatti is going to be ultimately much faster, develop more power and accelerate quicker. The trade off is that it's going to use much more fuel.

Stock VID for the X48 is definitely 1.25V and you should be fine running up to the max Intel specification as long as your case is well cooled.

There is always some ambiguity when it comes to temperatures that an IC will be rated for. To give an example, the structural difference between a Core 2 Duo and its mobile equivilant are minimal, yet Intel aprove the moboile part for use at temperatures well above the "Absolute Maximum" that the desktop part is rated at. This isn't done because the mobile part can withstand more heat. It's done because it has to be. There's no way a laptop cooling soilution can keep a mobile C2D at ~72c, therefore Intel has to shift its guidelines to a more realistic temp.

Don't worry about it. If you need a bit more voltage to prevent the PC booting to default settings, that's fine. You'll have thrown the PC away long before any components wear out due to voltage/wear and tear.

Note that additional settings such as static tRead can also cause hitches with OC recovery.

Well thanks to all of you guys. I am unserstandig little by little . At the moment the OC is stable with Linx at 420 FSB, RAM speed is x4B=1680. MCO core +0.2 and the same with FSB +0.2. I guess this is the limit Im able to reach using 1600 ram speed configuration . At 422 FSB. Linx crahs in 4 mintes. Any change in the FSB or MCH voltage don,t help to get stable with more than 420 FSB. I have check 422 even reducing RAM speed to x3.20 b and again crahses. Using Prime 95 , nothing fails even at 450.!!! , but Linx is another history...

    Try the 3.33D multiplier.
There is a new BIOS F6, it only lists AHCI update but may have other fixes as well.
If you choose to update, do not flash with @BIOS, use the BIOS built in Q-flash, and flush with stock settings.

No way Chike, 4 minutes of Linx and shows error. At 420 is stable, 422 =error. I keep 420 x9, RAm x4B= 1680,and the DDR3 runs well with CAS 8 ( 8-8-8-18) at 1.8v. When I get error with 422, I try to increase MCH core one or two steps and nothing, the same with the FSB overvoltage. To be honest with you Im really miss with that. I have never get problems before with the same QX and my old EP45 tu run not 425 but 450 FSB

Does LinX complete one run? If yes what GFlops do you get?
Why do you insist overclocking the ram?
To isolate set SMM 3.33D, same timings, FSB OverVoltage +0.1 to +0.15 MCH OverVoltage +0.2 to +0.25.
Start with the lower voltages, then GTLREF1 & 3 up and down 1 to 3 ticks, all possible combinations.
Salty never had to change the GTLREFs until 445MHz but he had C2D.

Let see.: At 420 all is ok. With FSB 422 , 3.33D multi, and 9-9-9-24 and MCH +0.2 and FSB +0.2 Linx after 3 or 4 minutes, stops with errors. Gflops are plus minus ( at 420) 48 to 51.000. I have try under this conditions MCH +0.30 and 0.35 same with the FSB but LInx do the same, after 3 o 4 minutes stop whit errors.
