    Default GA-X58A-UD7 and Corsair Dominator GT Memory

    My Computer set up is as follows:

    Motherboard: GA-x58A-UD7 Bios F6
    CPU: Intel i7 960
    CPU Cooling: Cooler Master V8
    Memory: 2 sets of Corsair Dominator-GT CMT6G3M3A2000C8 i.e 12Gb
    Graphics Cards: 2 Gigabyte GTX 460 running in SLI
    Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbs
    Power Supply: Antec TruePower Quattro 1200W ATX Power Supply

    My problem is setting up the Bios to obtain a stable setting that the memory will run at its rated speed or even close to it.

    If I set the memory to run at 1600 I can run the CPU up to 4GHz no problem. I have then brought the CPU speed down to its nominal value and tried the XMP Profile this does not work.

    I then set the CPU to its nominal speed and tested each stick of memory seperatly with a blk speed of 143 and a memory multiplier of 14 and each stick passed at 2000.

    However when I put either three or six modules in the MB and set the blk speed to 150 and a memory multiplier of 12 the computer sometimes does not recognise all of the memory. This is the same using metest or displayed in Windows.

    I reall want to run this memory at its rated speed thats what I paid for.

    What are the bios setting that should allow me to do this? TIA

    Do not use XMP Profile as like you said do not work.

    The more modules you install or the faster you run them the more QPI/Vtt voltage you will need. You Most likly wont be able to run 12gb at 2000 mhz you might get 1600 out of 12 gb

    First install 3 modules from set 1 set bclk to 133 Memory multi to 12x Uncore at 24x-26x

    Set your vDimm to what is labeled on memory along with timings. then stress test if you get BSOD 0X000000124 you need more qpi/vtt voltage.

    Raise bclk or mem multi (keeping uncore 2x +1 +2 ram multi) and adding QPI/Vtt till you get to 2000 mhz on the ram....

    Then reset all back to 133 bclk 12x mem and 24-26 uncore. Install both memory kits for your 12gb if the bios does not see all 12gb try upping QPI/Vtt untill bios see it

    2000Mhz is tough to do even with 6GB, using your CPU, so the above is correct you will need to do a lower speed.

    @ Acebmxer, you can also add this to your sig if you want!

    After a day of tweaking it turns out it all comes down to the voltages. I have put up the Vcore and the VTT and am getting much better speeds.

    So can anyone help me with acceptable voltages for these and the other settings that may need to be tweaked?

    Thx Lsdmeasap... I havant seen that code yet. Ill have to try dropping my vdimm and see if it comes up.

    @shadow6491 Post your currect bios settings and we can advise.

    Intel max volts

    Vcore 1.5 (may differ for i7-960) 1.3-1.45 depending on cooling and O.C.
    Qpi/Vtt 1.35 I say up to maybe 1.4 is ok for 24/7 depending on cooling.
    CPU Pll 1.88 (Some say lower helps with O.C)try 1.3-1.8 - I run 1.6 at 4.5ghz
    QPI pll 1.2-1.3 24/7
    IOH Core 1.3 max (watch northbridge temp)
    Vdimm (dont blow up your ram)

    Well I have been able to clock my CPU up to 4.1Ghz and the memory upto 1920 without problems when running windows and it passes the intel burn test but when runing the memtest86 v4.1 I get some errors.

    The best comprimise I have been able to come up with is the CPU at 3.87GHz abd the memory at 1860 MHz.
