Default p55a-ud6 making PSU make screeching noise when C1e/EIST on

    Hi I have 2 problems a p55a-ud6 mobo..( i have the latest f11 bios)

1- I noticed that the PSU is making some screeching noise based on activity
tried turning off c1e/eist in bios... and that got rid of the screeching..
but I want c1e/eist on... so how to fix that?

2- while in game menus I hear the psu making high pitched whine sound... turning c1e/eist off does not solve that
also while recording guitar stuff with line in...I hear the same whine in the recordings..

the whole PC is brand new... and I've read that some people with GA-X58A-UD3R boards had those issues..
now for me... what can I do?

edit: also i get those random beeps from the internal speaker, many people talked about that but some of them had new bios that fixes the problem.
but I am already on the latest bios.. so how to solve this issue too?

do you have quick boot? try disabling it for the beeps as for the screeching its common, even my mb does it,it can be psu or gpu not compatible, does it go away with just c1e disabled? for me it does and i can keep eist enabled

if you have win7 or xp disable c1e in the bios and go in windows power saving options and select balanced profile for win7 and minimum hardware for xp,it will do exactly the same job as c1e(throttle cpu speed/voltage at idle but not load)

    thanks for the reply..

the occasional beeps is during doing things on windows, its not at POST..
its a random beep which I don't know whats its cause, some people say its c3/c4/c6 that its causing it.. but I don't wanna lose that..

as for screeching... its a common issue with your board (x58) as its acknowledged and being addressed by GB as far as i know..
but for P55 boards its not acknowledged.. and some guy told me on the GB forums that as its not common on P55 boards, then my mobo might be faulty and needs RMA!

I don't wanna do RMA cause in my country they will not buy the PSU screeching as an excuse for it... also afraid if got new one I get the same issue.. as I've searched the net discovered that many people having this issue even with other mobo brands..
So I am very very worried...
and this whine leaking through my line-in recording is killing me too..
I have my i5 overclocked and don't wanna run it full speed all the time just because of that.. as turing c1e is not a fix for the issue!..

This is caused by PSU's, some cause the boards do make the noise and others do not. (Speedstep aside)

Does that power supply have a single +12V bus? If it has more than one, have you distributed the loads across the 12V buses? I am guessing that you are hearing one of the switching regulators in the supply changing frequency into the audible range. That could happen from a very light or heavy load. Being able to hear it is also probably specific to the individual listener. If that is indeed what is happening, it is dropping down from a frequency very far above audible so it will be coming down from ultrasonic. The regulator could actually be operating in the low radio frequency range. That makes the parts needed much smaller/cheaper. It could be a resonance in a power supply component as well. Some sub-multiple of a switching frequency. If you can borrow another brand power supply with sufficient ratings you could decide if replacing the power supply would fix it.

also it doesnt matter whether its high quality, some psu's will make the noise and some wont, same for your gpu too,i havnt heard any complaints from folks with a corsair hx psu but i cant say that it will be 100% silent either

no, its a single rail design psu..
the noise I hear is synced with hdd activity, and sometimes with cpu activity, its some sort of screeching noise, sounds electrical... not whining or squealing..

If i turn off C1e, or use a manual vcore, problem solved...
but i cannot live with that... I use a dynamic overclock, to save energy when idle or on low load...

you can if you set the cpu voltage to normal setting and choose balanced profile in win7 power saving options, disable c1e and it will throttle the same but without the noise, thats how i get round it
