After spending the day resetting and following the three step guide I've stopped at 21X180. But this issue was regarding the C300. Hopefully I've attached a screen shot with the HD Tune Numbers along with what ever would fit on the screen. Let me know what you think.

I'd just like to comment that the Windows 7 (x64) install sequence advocated above WORKS!! I had exactly the problem with a pathetic 5.9 hard disk performance rating in Windows 7 as a result of my first install where I did, in fact, make the serious mistake of installing the Marvell drivers for the C300.

However, following the steps outlined above as detailed on the Xtremeystems.org forums (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...5&postcount=24), the reinstall went very well, and I just installed the Marvell console drivers, along with the other latest drivers listed on the Gigabyte web site. After that I downloaded all the Windows 7 updates (it took several download sequences), and finally installed the 10-9 ATI drivers.

I then ran the Performance Index tool in Windows 7, and got the following:

    CPU: Intel i7-980X (@4.350GHz) = 7.8 Rating
    Memory: Corsair DDR3(1600)(12GB) @1450 = 7.7
    Video: ATI HD5850 = 7.7
    Disk Drive (C300) = 7.9

I'm sure with a little tweaking, I can raise the other values a bit. However, all in all, right now this thing is running stable at those settings, and gets long like a scalded cat!

Many Thanks for the tip on the install sequence to overcome the TERRIBLE Marvell drivers for the C300. Indeed, Marvell should be ashamed of itself for failing to provide a proper SATA3 6GB driver.

    Best regards to everyone. TheBeagle

wouldnt right clicking the marvell drivers in device manager and clicking un-install do the same job?

Ive seen corsair sandforce drives do this and top off at 170 for for average. Are you by chance in raid 0? what sata3 controller are you usein with what driver? For me i top off around 300, Thats with msahci installed without installing marvell console, and same with the console.

The C300 is on a SATA3 port, not in RAID and when I check on the hard drive properties is list the driver as Microsoft, Date 6/21/2006, version 6.1.7600.16385. I do have a couple of WD 1T drives in RAID O on the Intel SATA 2 ports. I'll try to upload a screen shot later. The Marvell controller is/was installed I just don't think its being used.

im guessing you havent filled your drive up too much? Mine is over half full when i run these marks. Try running crystal disk, or as ssd those are teh best especially the as ssd.
