Default GA-X58A-UD5 SATA3 Marvell and Crucial C300 SSD?

In my device manager under Marvell 91xx Config Device, Properties, General, the Device status says "No drivers are installed for this device" yet when I go to the driver tab it lists Driver Provider as Marvell Semiconductor
    Driver Date 10/23/2009
    Driver version 1.0.0.1027
I did go to Gigabyte's website and downloaded the Marvell driver.
Any ideas as to why and is this the latest driver?

    My Rig:
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 Rev 2 FB Bios
    I7-930 OC'd to 3.8 (19 X 200)
Cooler Master V8, RS850 Supply and HAF X case
    12 Gig OCZ 3G1600LV6GK
    Crucial C300 128 Boot Drive
    (2) WD WD1002FAEX Raid 0 on SATA2 (data)
    Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1GI Video
    Samsung SH-S243 DVD Burner
    LG WH10LS30 Blue Ray Burner
    Running Windows 7 64 bit

Thanks for any help or feedback

Under device manager it is listed as Marvell 91xx Config Device which is the driver I downloaded from Gigabyte. I did not download the raid one as I have no plans to run raid on the SATA3 port. I did scan for new hardware and it came up with nothing. Tried update driver via search automatically and windows says I have the best driver is already installed. I'll double check the bios but when I changed to ACHI it did jump the windows experience number for the drive from 7.5 to 7.9. I did run the auto fix to change the reg for ACHI but never looked at the reg to double check.

Checked under devices and printers and Marvell is listed as "Unspecifed" and if I check the properties of the C300, driver it lists the driver as Microsoft 6.1.7600. Doubled checked bios and it is enabled.

when you installed windows you did not install the marvell drivers correct? Well you did a great thing, dont install the drivers. The msahci drivers are much much much better than the marvell's. I have the c300 as well installed windows 7 without the marvell drivers, same thing for you show sup for me, do not worry about it, your better off without the ****ty marvell drivers. look for yourself: Marvell Vs. So which driver is showing up with your C300 and are you using the SATA3 port? I just moved my WD 1T SATA3 drive off the SATA3 port and over to the Intel SATA2 port and added another one. Running them in a RAID 0 for all the data. I'm going to try to keep the C300 as clean as possible.

It says my marvell is not installed, at the same time it says it has the best driver. Just let it be that way, run the benchmarks and you should score like lsdmeasap in that thread, if your not then something is wrong.

I need to clear my bios tomorrow and reset everything. I guess I played with it one too many times. After I get it up and running I'll post the readings from HD Tune Pro.

This is how it should look with NO Marvell drivers installed.

This is how it should look with Full Marvell driver install (Driver and MRU RAID Utility)

Sounds like you are getting a mix of both but neither fully, which if I remember correctly means you installed windows with the Marvell driver. So you will need to reinstall windows without loading any drivers if you want to get that off your device manager.

As long as AS SSD is showing MSAHCI though you are fine and the Marvell driver is not being used to control the disk.

MSAHCI is the best driver to use, I do not suggest you use the Marvell ones at all! And no, that is not the latest driver either in case you were still wondering, latest is 1042

That way is going to kill your 4K threaded reads!

You don't want any Marvell drivers installed, at all, WEI is not something you should base any decisions on.

See here for what happens with or without the Marvell drivers, you can easily see the huge difference in 4K Threaded reads (64 and 32 are affected as well as single 4K)
