MWave has great deal on GA-EP45-UD3R (I wonder why).
Any particular needs you have for the replacement motherboard?

Thanks for the links and the Deal.

What is the difference between the EP45 and the EP45C?

I will be testing it out of the case soon.

The C models has 4 slots for DDR2 and 2 slots for DDR3, either can be used but not both.

Just make sure how long warranty you get with it, they may have been sitting on the shelf for a while.

Well I tested it out of the case as per the link. And tried different video cards and such and she just beeps and boots. I have flashed the BIOS a few times. It sees the HDD's in the correct place now.

So, how do I determine if it is the CPU or not before I spring for a MOBO?

    Thanks

Test with another CPU and/or in another motherboard of course, may be memory as well.

Ugh! I tested with RAM and hard drives and video cards from my other machine, the one listed in my Sig. I really dread tearing off the CPU of a fine running machine to do a test. E-Gads! I wonder if anyone has one on the shelf I can borrow? Buy cheap? I'll send a UPS label.

Id be a little bit wary of testing out components that are working in a board u think might be bad.
What about trying it the other way,see if the components work on your spare machine?

Well................... I just found a GA-EP45-DS3R and ordered it. Fingers crossed. I'll let you guys know how the dice fall.

If it is the CPU I'll use it as an excuse to put the CPU in my sig on it and upgrade it.

I don't need a UPS, just a good surge protector. I always have my MOBO's setup to come back up the the last state upon power return.

I would like a recommendation for surge a strip if I can get it.
