    Thanks for the links,

Well Gigabyte sent me a label and form to fill out. It's all done and on the porch to be picked up. Provided they deem it bad, how long am I typically looking at?

    Thanks Guys!

Normally it's about 2 weeks after they receive it sometimes less, so 2-3 weeks depending on how quick you ship and then how busy they are.

    Thanks,

It's a GA-EP35-DS3R that will be there no later than Friday.

What do you think I'll get back if indeed they do agree with it being bad?

depends whats wrong with it,if its too damaged to repair quickly they will probably send an off the shelf repaired/refurbished mb,it will still be covered by the normal length of gigabyte warranty though

    Good luck!

You might even get a P45 if they don't have any P35's laying around, ya never know with something older like that.

I got a RMA item received confirmation today. My fingers are crossed.

I had an electrician buddy over to install a whole house surge protection unit in my breaker panel and he did a CSI thing on my lightning hit and because it hit in the neighbors yard it looks like it came to me through the ground side of things. Surge protection or not nothing can help it when it comes at you that way. But at least I'll not take hits from the power company any more.
It took the mobo and with the new mobo up and running I found the Cat5e cable took a hit too. We put a tester and meter on it and it was trash. As stated before it took my garage door sensors, and one of the realtek NIC's on my GA-EP45-UD3P system as well.

I hope I get some kind of upgraded P45 board. You never know. They may do some soldering on the one I sent in.

Ouch, sounds like you got lucky then, not everything in the house was damaged right? TV's ok?

I think it's cheaper and faster for them to toss your board into a "Repair Later" pile, and send you an already repaired model (Or new), or upgrade you. So hopefully you will get lucky since this is an older model!

Yes all else is OK. I had the PC on a ground fault outlet and it was tripped. Nothing else in the house shown a sign. All my clocks did not need to be reset.

Default I Just Found More Stuff Fried

In swapping out the mobo I found my NIC speeds were only going to 100Mbps on two of my other systems.
I have the rig in my sig connected via a Comcast cable modem, on board Realtek & Trendnet TEW633 Draft N router. Two of the other three ports on the router go to my laptop & the system that lost the mobo.
So in getting it all back on line I see the slower speeds. I was told once an ethernet system will only run as fast as the slowest device so when I see one running @ 1.0Gbps and two at 100Mbps I did a head scratcher.

So I swapped ports and cables in all kinds of combination's and I find one port will run at 1.0Gbps on any system, and the other two at 100Mbps on any system, and one is dead. It will not even show up as a short.

Arrrgh! I LOVED that Router! Now what? Put me on a N router with 4 Gigabit ports and the ease of use like the super fast Trendnet I had. That does not cost a million?

    Thanks
