    Question EP45-DS3P Vs EP45-UD3LR

I`ve been having some issues lately with my EP45-DS3P, I know for a fact that I have one bad memory slot and possiblly another fault elsewhere.
A EP45-UD3LR has come up for sale on the bay of E and i was wondering how it compares to my DS3P board? Is it a better board or just a little bit different and not worth bothering with?
My DS3P is UD2 so is UD3 any better?
One thing that swings it for me is that on the G.Skill website the UD3LR is on the qualified motherboard list after BIOS f10, my DS3P isn`t on the list.
Has anyone got any experience with these two boards to compare them?

If still under warrenty you can try and relpace it.
By the specs (and the look) the UD3LR don't come even close to the DS3P.
    Not worth it.
What is the other possible fault?

It`s not still under warranty so RMA is out of the question.
The other fault lies with the onboard diagnostic LED`s, the SATA and IDE LED`s are coming on straight after POST for three seconds and then going out. I`ve used Samsungs own hard drive tool to check the disk and it`s ok. If I disconnect all SATA devices and set all SATA/IDE devices to none in the bios the LED`s still come on which leads me to believe that the motherboard is at fault.
I`m getting the odd random BSOD too, this happened before and I traced it to the memory slots and one turned out to be bad. Didn`t get any BSOD for ages but now it`s started again and I`ve got that nagging feeling it`s the motherboard.
It`s difficult to track down random faults and I`ve been using eventid.net to check out things in the event log but to be honest they don`t really narrow it down that much.

This LED behavior began just lately? Could be normal for this board.
Boards are warented by GIFABYTE for 3 years since manufacturing AFAIK is it older than October 2007?

Check out the UK Gigabyte Community Forums: How long is warranty for motherboards.
Post #6 explains how the mobo serial number includes the manufacture date.
If you're within 3 years of this date, your mobo is still under warranty.

I only noticed the LED`s in the last three months Chike, it was only when I was testing my memory and memory slots that I noticed the LED`s, before that I`d had noneed to have the side panel off.
Thanks for that info Prof Jim, to be honest I thought the warranty was only two years, I`ll have a look and see what my manufacture date is.
    Thanks again guys :-)

You might want to provide GB with links to your threads or you can print the full threads and include them with your motherboard when you ship it to them.
Good luck with your RMA. Let us know how things work out.
