so no more red/yellow spikes now? you can look in win7 power saving options and select balanced profile and see if cpu throttles at idle still,im not sure if it will without eist disabled though i havnt tested it,youll find that eist was the biggest culprit, you can try enabling aero now as i dont think it would affect things

I can't see that option anywhere...

Nice to see you guys got this sorted out!

Lsdmeasap, that screen grab is showing a latency appreciably lower than mine. But it sounds like you're talking about a different BIOS revision on a different board. Is there a reason for posting it here that I should be aware of? Are you implying that I could reduce my latency more? Certainly it seems to be riding a little high compared to other shots I see on the forums...

Good news is that I've shaved a bit more off my ASIO audio driver latency, meaning I can get down to 3ms on a reasonably complex project in Ableton. That makes my MIDI keyboard really responsive. In fact, I'm so used to higher latencies that it feels almost like it's playing ahead of me hitting the keys!

Bottom line: You guys rock! :D

Ya that is on GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard, I just posted it in case anyone reads this thread in the future and wondered how that board was with Latency.

I have no clue if it's good or not, as it does not matter to me personally, so I suppose it could be better probably. I just always post my current board results in these threads when I see them, because we've always had ongoing issues from time to time, so I feel it's best to let others know how all the Gigabyte boards are - when I can.

I know my older EX58-UD4P was much lower, but I did have different GFX card then and used onboard sound.

Nice to hear you are making progress with your setup though!!!

I'd be really grateful if you'd post your build specs - I'd like to know which GFX card etc. would allow me to get the latency down on my board.

i've seen a real correlation between DPC latency and audio latency, so I'm interested in how I could lower it further.

Are you asking me? If so those images I posted are from two different builds.

I'm using the GA-X59A-UD7 right now, with a Gigabyte 5870 SOC, and Mushkin memory. Cheap Rocketfish sound card I liked the blue PCB on it.

The older build was GA-EX58-UD4P, with a Sapphire 3870 and 4890 (Both just the same for DPC), and that was using Realtek onboard sound.

Are you using the latest BIOS, wasn't sure since you mentioned F9 which isn't exactly released, so just wondered what version exactly you are using.

    Latest is F9k

Ah, so they *were* different MOBOs. :)

Thanks for the specs. Out of interest, how loud are the fans on the GFX cards? A quiet PC is very important for recording and some graphics cards are really loud. I get ones with no fans, so that lmits my choice a great deal.

Is there a list of hardware which works well with (particular) Gigabyte boards? It'd be useful for this and possibly future builds.
