Default Re: GA-X58A-UD3R rev 2.0 new build having issues

This is what I have mine set at. I clocked it up to 3.6 from 3.4GHz last night. I ran Intel burn test, stress to max & times to run at 25. Max temps were 62, 60, 60 & 59C so I didn't bother running any more.
I then ran Prime95 before I went to bed. It was still running fine when I got home from work, just over 18.5hrs. According to Real Temp everything was in the high 50's and maxed at the same temps as the IBT. Ambient temp it just under 22C. The North bridge idles around 48-49C and is 55-60 under load. (Stock cooling with a fan pointed at it)

    I'm happy

Do you guys see anything a miss?

    According to Cpu-z it's at 1.216.

With HT enabled it runs about 10C hotter in IBT. I'm mostly gaming with this rig and I haven't seen any benefit playing BFBC2 with HT enabled, or much else I've thrown at it for that matter. If I do some video editing or P2P while converting some of my FLAC collection to mp3 I'll turn it back on. I haven't done any folding yet but I've been thinking about it. Is there any other reason to leave it on 24/7?

sheldo1, I don't see any reason you can't use these settings as a base and push it to 3.8 or 4GHz. Our systems are very similar. Video, storage and cooling are the only real differences. With that H70 your temps should be as good or better than mine with it clocked that high. I do have this fan rigged to point at the north bridge and it really seems to help. I'm also thinking about taking the Gigabyte name plate off of the NB heat sink.
The ambient temps aren't a whole lot different where we live right now but your heading to late spring & I'm looking at late fall.

I hope this helps. I believe once you get everything set you will be real happy with your build.

Agree with NB and Mobo running hotter than I'm used to. I made it worse by using Corsair H50 cpu cooling - NB would climb to 85C. I too installed extra fan pointed at NB. Still runs around 40C.

I have been told there is no reason it should be so, but HT off (for me) made cpu run cooler, but mobo and NB hotter. I finished up leaving it on.
