try with +0.0500v in dvid and keep an eye on cpu load temps and make a note of what voltage it uses at load in cpu-z

hi wazz i upped teh dvid to +0.0500v ran 10mins of prime95 was fine peak temp was 77c minimum b4 prime95 was 42c room temp is probly 22c, the vcore was 1.200v but would fliker every so often to 1.216v, my temps i can get down abit as im using the inline resistors for the h70 as at 2000rpm its noisy as, resistors reduce speed to 1600rpm. nb was 62c. off to bed.

i ran a 1hr test over the weekend at 3.8ghz, test went fine however temps did get quite high max temp was 78 degrees however ambient was around 31 degrees c, so i may not be lloking to do much overclocking in the australian summer unless i invest in a better cooling setup then the corsair h70, on a cooler day i will try anit77's setup n see how this performs, with testing stability instead of running prime95 for 24hrs is there another program i can run that is quicker n stress the machine out and i do a few passes and then its classified as stable, is that the linux one?

you might get temps down abit with some good quality thermal paste like tx2,try linux or intel burn test on high and around 10-15 passes,it will crash or stop the test if its not stable, again keep an eye on temps with coretemp

If you are running a Corsair H70 you might get some ideas from this thread at Overclockers.net - the first page has links to interesting bits of the first few months and then the thread runs away with itself. It's huge.

cheers salty i had a look through that forum and did some other research on the net, i use the inline filters supplied with the h70 on mine to keep the noise down but only way to increase rpm is to pull them out and so forth, after reading taht forum and the research i purchased 2x scythe slipstream 1900rpm fans pushing 110 cfm, the standard are rated at 57 cfm, and an external fan controller so hoping this will aid in getting a few degrees down and also being able to manually control the fans will help, i also bought an led light strip to brighten the case up, as why spend all that money to not be able to see inside the case at what you have bought lol.

wazza i will see how this new fan setup goes for temps and if it doenst really work, i have some thermal paste i will use to reseat teh cooler, hoping i dont have to as the 1st time i installed the h70 was teh 1st time ive ever done that b4, but gotta learn somewhere.

have you tried with lower cpu voltage through dvid? you might be able to lower to +0.0250v and still be stable, anything below 80c is fine on cores, ideally you wanna stay between 75-79c

24c ambient, 77c max on one core after 15 mins Prime. If it was 31C I'd expect 84C. I think it's that linear. (I can't remember what I've posted here vs what I've posted elsewhere, so if I repeat, please forgive.)

I used Kaze Ultra 3000rpm and 1" shroud (gutted 120 x 25 fan) betwn fan and rad to eliminate dead spot in front of fan motor. U can see it in pic. Also 45mm fan on NB/MCH (TMPIN2 temp in HWMonitor)

Idle was about 41 hottest core without Dynamic Vcore (DVID) and 38 with.
