Default P55A-UD3 (rev.1) : Compatibility question about SUPERTALENT WS213UX4G8 Ram

Hello everyone , first post here. A few days back , my Ram (geil 1333 c7) died on me , while on warranty , so the store I purchased them from, is willing to replace them, with any model of my choice , provided i pay the money difference of course. I got my eye on this Supertalent 2133 Mhz CL8 kit , but know nothing about it.
So, here I am asking you : Is it good? Is it compatible with my mobo? Any problems reported?
    Thank you in advance

anything over 1800 mhz will require to much voltage for 24/7 daily use. Also you wont see any performance difference over 1600 mhz. As for the brand im not positive about compatibility.

I got my 2000 mhz ram not knowing this but at least i know my ram will run at any given speed for my Overclock.

Thanks for your answer. I am between the supertalent and the OCZ3G1866LV4GK . For the ocz kit I'll have to pay 15 euros and for the supertalent 25 , so it'w not a matter of price. What got me interested in the supertalent kit is the low timing , as they are 8-8-8-24 , and at 2133 with a 1.65V . At the moment I don't "really" o/c , but I wouldn't want to regret not buying it in the future as it seem better than the ocz kit with 10-10-10-27 timings ( and the shop unfortunatelly don't have much of a variaty to choose at the moment).
BTW what did you mean when you said they need more voltage? At what V do you have yours?

he means qpi/vtt voltage for the integrated memory controller, the more ram/higher the ram freq and tighter the timings means you use more qpi/vtt voltage,i have no problems with my set of ocz but i bought them when they just came out and were cheap,i can tell you that the ocz will run on that mb,dunno about supertalent,as in i dont know if the mb bios will support them but you can return if they dont work? and exchange for ocz? thats what i would do

have you looked at kingston and corsair 2000mhz kits too?? or some ocz obsidian? but there 1600mhz

Ordinarily that's what anyone would do. Unfortunatelly though , not in Greece (or at least at a couple of the bigest pc stores). Here you even have trouble convicing them that a part that you have tested in every way and IS broken , is infact broken. So , once you open the packaging , THEY TAKE NO RETURNS.... I know... idiotic but that's how it is . If I bought the memory and was incompatible they'd simply say :" Your fault that you didn't make sure . Too bad ... for ya" and that would be all. So as you can understand , since the QVL for P55A is rather limited... I have to do all the research I can before I buy anything ( and still risk it... I still have my 300 euros worth asus wl-700gE router-HDD-torrent client sitting in my closset nearly unused after 3 years)

i found a few links on the net with that make of ram

Incompatible RAM or bad motherboard? - Windows 7 Forums

    Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 - New-System-Build - Homebuilt-Systems

for anything bought mail order or over the internet we have a distance of sales act where you have 7 days from recieving the goods to return it for any reason for full refund idk if you have that in greece,if your still unsure i would go for the ocz or any other popular brand, pref thats on the qvl list

remember you will be able to tighten the timings on the ocz if you run them at 1800mhz or 1600mhz,those timings of 10-10-10-30 are at 2000mhz

Maybe.... Or those are crappy IC's, they don't look too awful hot from the stock spec's, sound like bottom of the barrel really so they may not do to well at lower freq. either.

You are correct in general of course, but I just had to toss in my thoughts when I saw those 10-10-10 timings, those are terrible timings. Hope no one buys them and runs that at 2000Mhz with those timings, performance would be dismal.

i agree the ocz timing are poor but who runs at 2000mhz anyway? im not sure the supertalent will work with that mb either from what ive read on the net,any brand on the qvl list should work though, just depends on what you want to spend

I agree with LSD. Likely the OCZ are marginal IC's that will just scrape 2000MHz DDR. I know LSD doesn't like to recommend specific brands, but check his sig for a couple of real good quality RAM reviews. They're a good enjoyable read too.

My personal recomendation would be a set of Mushkin Enhanced Redline. They come spec'd at 2000-DDR at 8-8-7-24 timings which are almost the tightest official timings you'll get without paying well over the odds. I just bought a set dual channel version Ridgebacks and they only have slightly tighter CAS7 timings. Mushkin also tend to OC really well so you could save a little money and get the DDR-1600's and run them at over DDR-1800.

Here's a link to the DDR3 dual kits available: Performance Memory - Mushkin Enhanced Lots to choose from. Go for the most cost effective while also taking into account the timings. Don't, IMO, go for anything higher than CAS9 and if possible CAS8/7 are ideal, especially at DDR-1600 as this will make the RAM faster than those OCZ CAS10 sticks even running DDR-400 slower!

If none of these take your fancy, you can always use the dual channel 996902 kits. Simply buy 3 kits and run 12GB with 6 sticks. You COULD buy two sets and then ebay a single bodule also. Sounds a strange method, I know but those sticks aren't available in Tripple Channel kits.

I'm not a Mushkin fan boy or anything but I can hoonestly say that these are the best sticks of DDR3 I've used EVER! You know when you get that really satisfied feeling because you know you spent your money and chose wisely? I have that now and it feels sweet. Mushkin Enhanced FTW!

As for the shop's no return policy, that's aweful, what a shame! I'd swear by these mushkin modules (the entire range) and would bet my house on them being compatible with your hardwear. Mushkin just work, simple.

I run ramz at 2000 FTW! Haha!

You are right, not many do even with ram that can easily, but even all the 1600 kits I have can do 2000Mhz with better timings than that. So that is really why I meant what i said, those have to be bottom of the barrel as Psycho mentioned

+ 1 billion!! And thanks for the kind words about my reviews man, most appreciated!!

To the OP, if you do need triple channel and start looking at Mushkin, the 998826 Ridgebacks that do come in triple channel can do some nice timings. Just mentioned this in comparison to the 996902 timings of 7-10-8-27, and having to buy several kits.

Check out my review on those if you haven't already. They can do 2000Mhz @ 7-10-7-24 in triple channel so they may do better than that even in dual, the 996902 sticks probably can also do those timings too. I could test dual with two of the 998826 Ridgebacks if you are interested.

And of course at 12GB neither may be able to handle either of the timings mentioned.

Picking up a set of those would only have you buying one kit, and then just sell one module or keep for backup, or just pickup a set of 996826 for 4GB

Psycho is right, Mushkin's just work, and there is so many choices. If you'd like to get into my thoughts on Mushkin kits and what might be better for you feel free to send me a PM and we can further discuss things.

As for your SuperTalent model, are you buying this at ewiz? If so I think I can tell you a bit more about those, shoot me a PM and I'll give you some links and info
