Default New Ati 6750/6770 Card Details... Gtx 460 Beaters?

just thought id post this out of interest

We have repeatedly talked about the preparation by AMD new generation of its graphics card, which will include a family of Radeon HD 6000. For example, recently reported that the official debut of the new adapter, codenamed "Southern Islands, to be held towards the end of October.

In confirmation of information on imminent release of a series of AMD Radeon HD 6000 networked media published a slide, which gives enough details on the specifications of two models of a new family - Radeon HD 6770 and Radeon HD 6750. These accelerators are built on different versions of 40 nm chip Barts, supports DirectX 11 technology, and, apparently, will be clearly faster than its predecessors, the fifth series.

note, for example, higher clock speeds and larger number of texture units and blocks ROP - parameters directly affect the performance of graphics cards. For example, memory bandwidth and pixel fill rate of speed at the Radeon HD 6750 are almost identical to the existing model of Radeon HD 5850.

In this adapter, Radeon HD 6770 even manages to surpass the current leader in the segment of single-chip models of AMD - Radeon HD 5870. Of course, this is not official data, but given that Barts applies to decisions "above average" level, they are forced to hope for even better results with the future of the flagship chip Cayman.

As detailed specifications, Graphics Card Radeon HD 6770 (Barts XT) should receive the 1280 stream processors and 256-bit memory bus, a stock GPU frequency of 900 MHz will be. At the same time the model Radeon HD 6750 (Barts Pro) will receive 1,120 processor cores and the reference frequency of the GPU at 725 MHz. Performance TDP novelties in this line-up 146 and 116 watts respectively.

AMD Barts. Recall, this graphics card will be included in a future series of adapters, codenamed Southern Islands, which will be known as the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and the announcement of these accelerators is expected in November.

And now the World Wide Web emerged, some specifications of the video processor AMD Barts, which is positioned as a logical continuation of the chip Juniper, the underlying models of mid-range Radeon HD 5750 and Radeon HD 5770. Like its predecessor, the chip AMD Barts built on 40 nm process technology standards and has the technology to support DirectX 11.

Known characteristics of AMD Barts presuppose the existence of two modifications of the GPU with indices Pro and XT, which will form the basis for the adapter Radeon HD 6x50 and Radeon HD 6x70 respectively. Both versions support 256-bit memory bus, which operates at frequencies of 1000 and 1200 MHz respectively. This enables almost 100 per cent increase bandwidth memory.

As for the chip AMD Barts, the number of hardware present in its stream processors, probably rose by only 20 per cent compared to Juniper. Modifications XT and Pro are on board the 960 and 800 stream processors, and the number of SIMD units involved in them is 12 and 10, respectively. This GPU is based on the architecture of Cypress Dual Engine, which means that the units in SIMD there are two arrays of six and five units respectively.

Note also that the number of ROP units in AMD Barts has doubled and reached 32, while the number of blocks in the TMU XT and Pro versions was 48 and 40, respectively. We add that as a major competitor graphics cards based on chip AMD Barts considered models NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 with 768 MB and 1 GB of memory, which means that their cost should be roughly comparable.

should be out later this month,900mhz stock clock speed!!!!! ...your thoughts?

Default Re: New Ati 6750/6770 Card Details... Gtx 460 Beaters?

I was under the impression that they were changing the naming convention of the 6 series slightly. In several mags and websites it was said that the new high end single GPU cards will all be 69xx, the mid range ie updated 5830 will be a 68xx as usual as will be the replacement for the 5770.

Specs have been varied as reported by the media at the moment, but as long as the tables you've posted are accurate it should at least give the 460 a run for its money.

Thing is, it's all well and good if the cards are more powerful than the coresponding NVidia model, but it then becomes a price issue. Hopefully the AMD cards will be keenly priced and further strengthen their range.

As a single card I would definitely use them for new builds if the performance to /$ ratio is as good or better than the 460.

One thing I have noticed in the whole AMD/ATI vs NVidia thing is multi GPU scaling. I was shocked at how much better SLI scales compared to crossfire. In many games that favor ATI cards I've seen worse performance on my NVidia cards as a single GPU. However when enabling SLI, the performance loss is gone and the games actually run faster than on a Crossfire setup. Hopefully AMD is constantly addressing this issue. I think this is why you can now download app profile updates for ATI cards. This is definitely a good thing as it means you don't have to wait until the end of the month or for a hotfix to come out to get max FPS in Crossfire mode.

the model i have scales pretty well in xfire, dunno about other models, the real juicy stuff will be later in 2011 when they switch to 28nm production, one thing about the 6000 series will be how hot or cool they run if those specs are true

I've read the naming will change as well, adding 1100 to current model names will get you the new equivalent

I thought so LSD, glad it's not just me thinking it

Crossfire does scale well, very well indeed, it's just that on average, SLI seems to scale even better in even ATI favored games.

Any plans on going Crossfire Wazza or are you going to go for a 6000 series card instead? 5770 Crossfire is pretty sweet!

That's definitely a nice monitor mate. I like BenQ, always have. Shame they don't make DVD writers anymore, they were the best I've ever used.

    1080P plus Xfore 5770 = win IMO.

Aye. Likely the pink tinge was down to the tint colour settings needing tuning. However, like you say there's no way to test this really so it's best avoided.

That BenQ would be an ideal component for an Eyefinity setup too. Three monitors would be awesome with that monitor. One would need a pretty beefy card to pull it off though, maybe even a 5970 or CF 5870's.

That's the only thing missing from my Dell monitor... HDMI. Not that it's crucial though. I use my only HDMI output for my digital 720P LCD TV (Toshiba IPS screen, was very expensivo a couple of years ago!)

Take a few pics when you buy one mate, maybe even pop up a Youtube vid or 2 (been visiting your channel, nice FPS in Crysis man!!).
