    Ram is rated 1.55-1.75v

I think I will leave it where it is now and shut down and wait for a cold boot to try these settings.

Yeah I tested with 1.315v qpi. You think I should bump it higher and higher in tests?

Will I get a crash if it is too high? I guess that's a good way of working out what is too high.

Would you say that things are looking better?

I still have a feeling it will BSOD me on a cold boot
How are you test? You have to test with a program that test for stability either Prim95 or LinX or Intel Burn test.

If you chose LinX or Intel Burn test make sure you had real temp or Core temp up and running to watch the core temps on the cpu make sure they do not pass 80c.

If you can pass 20 passes of LinX or intel burn test your good.

If you pass 12 hrs of small ffts 12 hrs large ftts and 24hrs of blend for Prim95 then you are considered stable.

All 3 of these will stress the cpu and the memory.

for any voltage setting not enough or to much is not good and can cause stability problems that's why your supposed to start out low and work up. If your test fails or bsod renter bios make changes save and exit re run the stability test and hope is passes.

It keeps cold booting now matter what speed.

Plus on top of all this I can hear a high freq whining starting to come from the mobo....

I think it's time to throw this mobo and ram in the bin and get a new mobo and ram for my i7930

    Any recommendations?

I want a great board (not over featured/ not under) and ram that is guaranteed to go well with it

the whine is normal on ex58's,some do it and some dont it can be psu or gpu that causes it,disabling c1e in the bios usually gets rid of it,personally i would buy different ram first then try that,if no good then go for a different mb
