    Question Please help

    hello folsk
I have Geil pc3 17000 2133 mhz DDR3 memory modules. 4 gb of that RAM work´s FINE on 2133 mhz.BUT,when i put 8 gb of same RAM modules thay can't work above 1800 mhz.Problem is that 8 gb of RAM on motherboard cannot work higher then 1800 mhz. 4 gb works fine on 2133mhz.I dont know why. I have windows 7 64 bit and it shows all 8 gb of RAM memory. Also BIOS see all 8 gb of RAM memory.Only speed is the problem. Why 8 gb of RAM Geil 2133mhz , on motherboard UD6, cannot work higher than 1800 mhz, and 4 gb work?

Sounds pretty normal to me. You're populating all DIM Mslots, stressing the IMC and demanding what is officially an over clocked/"unsupported" level of RAM performance as far as Intel is concerned.

You may need to do one of four things, or even more than one:

    Increase QPI/VTT voltage
    Increase Vcore
    Increase VDIMM
Loosen RAM timings, possibly up to and including CAS latency.

The fifth alternative is that you wil have to settle for 1800. Very seldom will 8GB work first time with auto settings or even to-spec settings with all DIMM slots in use.

There is one final thing to consider which will depend on how these modules were packaged. Did you buy a single pack of 4 sticks, matched and designed to work together, or was it two packs of matched pairs? If it was the latter then miniscule differences between the two sets may cause problems, needing anything from a small amount of tweaking, to a lot of tweaking to it being physically impossible to run them at 2133

Thank you all for help. After flashing f12 BIOS RAM can make 1920 mhz speed on default settings.Still, not 2133 mhz.I thinsk it is BIOS issue.I will post if something change. This week i will try higher...
Edit: now it's 2020 mhz.Only QPI is 1.3V. RAm voltage is 1.65V. Earlier, with f11 BIOS this was not much of help.Even with qpi vtt on 1.5V RAM was unable to go over 1800mhz.

That is normal, even DDr2 at 8GB can't often reach 1066mhz when using 2 4GB kits.

You can probably get close with some tweaking, but depending on your CPU or your thoughts on using high voltages, you may never reach 2133
