Default New Build X58A-UD3R - Ram

    Hello guys

Hi I have purchased the following

    I7-950
    ga-x58a-ud3r rev2
Kingston HyperX KHX1600C8D3K3/6GX tripple channel (kit of 3)
    Coolermaster Scout Case
    Windows 7 Professional (64bit)

    From previous Machine:

    Ati Sapphire HD 4890 1gig
using 2x 500 WD Hard drives
and older Liteon dvd writer IDE

I purchased the new components 3 weeks ago and was told by the online store that the ram would work, even over the phone i was told that. ( After the issues i have had i have managed to get the motherboard RMA in case it was an issue with the 1366 socket, and now the company i been dealing with have passed me off)

Anyway the issues i am having i think 99.99% sure its the ram. After making a call to kingston i sent photos of bios settigns etc to them to see if their techies can work out whats going on - still waiting on a reply from their testing.

I have also contacted them by telephone and due to phone overloading at kingston in asia i was transfered to the United Kingdom support. To which the rep told me that the ram i have is NOT compatible with the motherboard. Yet the guys in asia support say it is compatible.

All im wanting is my new system to be going so I can get back to gaming and being able to use my new machine - my buzz from upgrading has long gone and im actually really disappointed in this hassle.

Can someone please tell me what ram will actually work with this mobo , a link would be good, im even considering changing Ram Brands just means im going to have to sell off this ram that has been purchased incorrectly.

After I get the system built and running stable I intend to OC the cpu so im going to need some good (not to expensive ram) that is availible for purchase in New Zealand, the ram i have purchased cost me $280.00 yet with what the UK rep told me, I looked up the pricing for the model ram he said would work and its just their Value ram = $190.00

should I look at getting 2000mhz tripple chan ram to give me more of a head room for over clocking, I will only be air cooling after market HSF later on, atm im using the intel cpu hsf.

The issues i have had are as follows

    1. Bios only reading 4 gigs of ram on the post screen, in windows 6 gigs (4 useable)
and that 2 gigs was being reserved for hardware. Also CPU-z sees 6 gigs of ram installed.

    2. XMP crap caused temps to rise to 70degrees C turned that all off and temps running at idle in bios at 37-40 degrees C.

    3. After managing to get the system running (still with missing ram) and rebooting 3 times "recovering lost DRAM size" I only had one hard drive installed, in the 1ts sata port, I then added my second hard drive and then restarted pc. (WITHOUT the Win7 instal dvd in the drive) System came up with "Starting Computer for the first time"

I have formatted the hard drives back to totaly empty.

So thats a little run down on whats been going on, I am pretty sure its the ram that got some major compatibility issues and am wanting to buy either some OZC or ADATA or CORSAIR Ram.

    Current ram stick Model numbers:
    Kingston 6GB 1600MHz C8 DDR3 HyperX Non-ECC CL8 (8-8-8-24) DIMM (Kit of 3)
    KHX1600C8D3K3/6GX

    Stick 1 Numbers :9905403-142.AOOLF, 004939679X001, HRL82-994TWT-4XJBB, AVME1691024

    Stick 2 Numbers :9905403-142.AOOLF, 004939679X001, MLL03-M9AT4K-9XURF, AVME1691024

    Stick 3 Numbers :9905403-142.AOOLF, 004939679X001, 1TLN8-N9HTRX-VXDNF, AVME1691024

Thanks for any help and your time
    Jimmy

are you seeing full 6gb now in bios screen? after "recovering lost DRAM size" do you see 6gb? and does it say that after its blue screened or crashed? you might just need to update the bios to the latest one or a bios tweak to get it to work

first i would flash to latest bios i dont know whether its revision 1 or 2 of the mb so ill post both
    rev 1 http://www.station-drivers.com/telec...ivers.com).exe
    rev 2 http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/12...8aud3r.fc1.zip

read the guide on how to safely flash the bios here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ash-guide.html
