Default Any way to activate s3 sleep led? (x58a-ud3r)

No power led pulsing (blinking) when in s3 sleep state. I have the "power led" wires from the case plugged into the "power led" header on the mobo (not the msg header for s1 sleep state message led.) S3 sleep works correctly (sleeps, wakes, no issues.)

you might need to install dynamic energy saver software and turn on the mb led's with it

That, or you may need to install the LED on the actual Message LED header.

Let us know if you install DES and it does not work, I can test an LED on the Message LED header for you if need be.

no DES, just running Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.4. No S1 enabled, just S3, in mac. The mobo manual says that "message" header is just for S1 and is off for S3/4/5. Not sure if S3 sleep state responds to "power led" header / connector. There's a 3 pin header there, but all the connectors I've found are 2 pin, and the manual doesn't explain the middle pin on the power led header. I took a known good (2 wire) power led from a different computer and tried it in as many combinations of connections as I could, but it didn't light when connected to "power led" header in S3. It's a mystery to me.

    Ahh ok.

I am not sure either on the header then, sounds like it is for S1 only if that is what the manual states. I know the LED's do work differently and can be enabled/disabled with DES installed, but you can't use that.

I'll test S3 later today for you, and see if I can get the LED to come on or not, connected to the power LED header and the Message one. I will use a 3 pin case speaker connector to connect a LED to the message header.

Great. Thanks for that lsd. Curious to hear what you find out.

K, just tested the Power and Message LED headers, and neither blink with S3 sleep.

And looking at the manuals description for each that appears to be normal operation - OFF for S3 sleep and only blinking for S1 (Hibernate)

Well thanks for taking a look at that for me, lsd. I appreciate it - I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

    Anytime!

I was thinking like you, it should work one way or the other, but I guess we were thinking of older boards that only used S1/Hibernate so we had gotten used to expecting the blink is all.

Post back anytime if you need help with anything else, or need me to test anything for you.
