They didnt say just said that they had entered BIOS 3 times and installed windows sucsessfully and was already in the post back to me. I suppose there is no harm in buying a sempron processor to test they are only 25 of dabs.com might get a power supply while i'm at it. I can rule everything out then as i have a known good graphics card and motherboard

its a shame you didnt ask them to update the bios to the newest one for you, email them and ask whether they did or not and ask if they tested with a 4 or 6 core chip

ohh and remember you have a 7day return policy for anything bought mail order so you can flash with that chip from dabs and return it within 7 days for full refund, you would have to msg them and ask for return ticket within 7 days of recieving the item,

what price and wattage power supply you looking for??

heres pretty good spec psu,80+ certified, modular 750w and free delivery and has 2x 4 pin cpu connectors

Note that a 7 day cooling off period by mail/phone/internet only applies if the product is unopend and not used, otherwise it is classed as you having accepted the goods.

One thing they did say was that it required the 4x2 power conector from the power supply now my power supply only has a 2x2 connector for it could this be causing the issue?
That may be the issue then, some 2x2 PSu's may work and others may not, so it's hard to say for sure unless you get different 2x2 or 4x2 which would be pointless to do. If you get a new PSU get one with ATX 12V EPS 8 pin CPU connector and you should be good to go.

It's very likely the issue here, since they did specifically note that they needed to use a 4x2

dont know if that applies to cpu's but ive tried a psu from ebuyer and then returned it under 7 day period andd was refunded, cpu's being sealed might be different i cant say 100%

from ebuyer but im guessing its the same for all outlets

i got away with mine because it wasnt sealed box,so its up to you if you want to risk it

Aye, sometimes at the sellers discression they will implement policies like that as a kind of "courtesy". It's a bit like the Argos 14 day money back guarantee etc. If the company was being mean, they could stick to the letter off the law. The distance selling regulations officially state that the item should be in an unused condition, and if they are CD's, DVD's or any intelectual property that is able to be coppied then it must also be sealed (if it was sealed when it arived that is). that would be to stop you buying it, copying it then returning it. You were lucky that ebuyer values good customers and kind of, "lets people off" with stuff, as do Scan and Aria. Dabs are good too, and very courtious.

Like Warren says, check the terms and conditions on the seller's site first, but most really large firms will waive the small print. Those that don't are just plain silly in the current economic climate.

    This was what they said

    Hi

The 24pin connector needs be connected in 1 block and the 8pin needs to be connected for the board to operate correctly.

I must also thank you for the speed and quality of your service so far.

Hi my power supply has a 4 and 24 pin connector when i tryed it swapping the 4 pin connector from the 24 pin plug the PC would not boot at all. For what you are saying I'm assuming that during testing you used a 8 pin connector. I understand that the pins give different out put voltages between the two types could this be the issue or should it work fine using the 4 pin and 24 pin configuration?

    Pete [web@x2tek.net] 2010-11-12 09:40:53

    Hi

Try the items again once you get the motherboard back as a simple re-fit could work wonders.

If you are still encountering the problem make sure the 8 pin motherboard connector is installed and possibly even try the board out of the pc case as that could be shorting the rear of the board.

if all those suggestions dont work then we could try the cpu for you.

    Edward Maher [the_marcanic@hotmail.com] 2010-11-11 20:17:48

What would you suggest then? Would it be worth sending the processor for testing? As RAM and power supply do not seem to be an issue

    HI
unfortunately we have to return this item to you as we have entered the bios on 3 occasions and installed windows with no issue

it could be the psu being it doesnt have an 8pin only a 4pin cpu power plug, but speaking from experience with my mb but an intel chip,it worked fine on a 300w psu with a 4pin plug,i dont know how different amd chips are

the second thing it could be is the bios that came with the board could be an older bios that doesnt support the newer 6core,and the only way to update the bios would be to install an older chip, flash the bios then put in the newer 6core

did you take a look at the psu i linked you too? was the price right for you or do you want to spend less on one?
would be good to get a psu with an 8pin plug anyway although im thinking its the bios but im not 100% sure
