Yes, sorry, CPU Termination is Vtt.

Good luck with the continued testing, you'll get it just give yourself a chance to figure out how it needs tweaked.

Okay I've been trying various versions of the suggested settings for running the memory at 1066 with seeming success for a while before problems crop up again.

Problems I'm seeing are my game not shutting down correctly and more problematic the computer completely locks up mid-game. The lock-ups happen without much identifiable pattern other than I'm gaming. The screen will almost instantly go blank I often get a bit of sound that repeats a few times and nothing else about the system appears to be doing anything. Hitting the restart button doesn't result in a re-post and boot I have to hold the power button until the computer shuts off.

The last settings I used I had memory set to optimized default suggested latencies of 5-7-7-24. Vtt at 1.24 and MCH core at 1.32.

I'm assuming at this point running memory at 1066 will not be possible so I've gone with running the memory at 800 instead. below I've posted the bios settings as I've revised them.

Which stress tests are you running and how long is each test run?
Including a screen-shot (step #4) from the linked to post (in post #2) will let us quickly verify some of your settings.

    CPU Termination --------- 1.200V* ----- : [1.22] <-- see note below
CPU PLL ----------------- 1.500V* ----- : [Auto] <-- set to 1.50 - 1.57, never leave it on AUTO when overclocking

    ICH I/O ----------------- 1.500V ------- : [Auto] <-- set to 1.50, not AUTO
    ICH Core ---------------- 1.100V ------- : [Auto] <-- set to 1.10 or a bit higher

Cpu Termination (VTT) should generally be at least 0.05 volts less than Cpu Vcore.

Increasing VTT can often help with stability, increase it gradually if needed.

Default Re: GA-EP45-UD3P - looking for memory setting advice

    hello,

I have the same mobo as u do. i recently put up a post where profJim and Lsdme gave me some great advice:

    http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ndybridge.html

since u are now trying to run your memory at 800 or between 800-950, my post might be of some help as I have 4 sticks of 2gb crucial ballistix that I configured similarly. The bottom line here is that in some tests that I did, running 4-4-4-12 (ish) and somewhere between 800-900mhz was about as fast as 5-5-5-15 at 1066, so if you can get your memory to run well in that range--stable, this would be a good result. I generally just set memory and cpu 1:1 and have have great results w/my e8600, so you might find the tighter timings to work quite well, but ymmv. Anyways listen closely to profJim, Lsd and the other experts, and dont hesitate to underclock ur cpu or try less aggressive setting to isolate your memory performance and stability.

Finally, if you get the system running well and stable up to a certain, why go 4 broke? In about a month or so, after the bios gets stable on P67 mobos, you can get an unlocked i2500k/P67 mobo and 8gb of ddr3 in the ballpark of $400. That would be one heck of an upgrade, jmho.

    Regardless, g/l on your quest!

    GA-EP45-UD3P - looking for memory setting advice-screengrabs-jpg

I've been using primarily OCCT and Intel Burn for stability testing. So far I haven't crashed the system running those tests. The real issues are when I'm gaming, or at least so far.

I'm including screen shots from step#4. I did slightly tweak the CPU PLL to 1.57 and the ICH Core after reading profJim's last post.

    Thanks for the screem-shot :)
tRFC = 52 might be part of the problem with 8GB, even with 800MHz memory speeds.
    With 8GB and 1066 memory speeds, tRFC = 68 - 72 is often needed.
Set tRFC = AUTO or 70 and see if this fixes your gaming problems.
No need to stress test with this single bios change.
    Good luck.

BTW, hrbngr never did give us feedback on his final stable settings. ;(

***EDIT*** I just noticed that you had tRFC = AUTO.
Manually set tRFC = 70 for now and play some games.

    profJim,

I should probably post those settings, but once i reached 4.1ghz on my cpu, i didnt really push the memory that high, i'll get that final update in there.

how did the video card overclocking go? what utility were you using and did the utility have the ability to adjust voltages?

Unfortunately computer is still hard locking seemingly randomly while gaming. I've upped the tFRC to 72 with same result. I wonder if I should be going higher with that or maybe upping MCH core?

With 8GB of memory, try MCH Core = 1.30 - 1.32. You can also try 1.34. Some have used up to 1.40 but the higher settings usually aren't necessary.
With higher MCH Core voltages, your SYSTEM temperature reading will be higher.
The goal is to use the lowest voltage setting that is stable.
