Are you sure the graphics card is working then? It should show the splash screen on the second restart

You may need to RMA the board if you can't get it, you have a 3 year warranty.

I'm using a working vga from my second pc (nvidia 9400gt). Why sometimes it reboots 2 and 3 times? Is it possible the backup bios to be damaged?

    • Did you disconnect your hard drive, optical drive, and floppy drives?
    • Are any usb drives connected to your system?
    • Is your keyboard and mouse connected using PS/2 connectors or usb connectors?
    • Can you do your jumper test with a different power supply?
    • How is your monitor connected to your video card? DVI? VGA?
    • What procedure did you follow when you performed the CMOS clear? How llong did you clear the cmos? Seconds? Minutes? Hours?
    • Did you remove the motherboard battery and/or unplug the psu cable before the cmos clear?
Check out the procedures in http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post301218, post #2, and try the bios jumper steps again.

Thanks another time for your reply but I'm affraid my mobo is dead. It is supposed that while shorting the 4+7 and powering up the motherboard after the 1st restart it has to be a post screen, but in fact there are 3 to 5 more reboots and nothing comes up in the screen. I've tried 3 or 4 different PSUs, VGAs, memory modules but nothing. I can't really understand why the backup bios doesn't work.

Here are the answers in your questions
Did you disconnect your hard drive, optical drive, and floppy drives?
Yes I did, I removed all the drives
Are any usb drives connected to your system?
    No
Is your keyboard and mouse connected using PS/2 connectors or usb connectors?
Keuboard and mouse are connected via ps/2
Can you do your jumper test with a different power supply?
I tried 3 differnet psu from 400 to 550 Watts
How is your monitor connected to your video card? DVI? VGA?
    Via VGA
What procedure did you follow when you performed the CMOS clear?
I removed the battery, I unplugged the power cord and the I short the cmos
How llong did you clear the cmos? Seconds? Minutes? Hours?
    A few minutes (15-20)
Did you remove the motherboard battery and/or unplug the psu cable before the cmos clear?
    Yes of course

Ya, it should be directly after the first reboot when you would normally get a normal startup/splash screen.

Holding the short anymore than that isn't needed, and would only cause more reboots of course so that sounds normal that it continues to reboot.

Sounds like you will just need to RMA this board, RMA takes about 2 weeks give or take a bit depending on where you live and how busy the RMA dept. is.
