in the motherboard itself theres lots of tiny pins where the cpu sits,i cant remember exactly with newer bios layouts but to set ram timing look for spd system memory multiplier and set to manual first, then select timings as quick, then type in from top to bottom the timings like this

    9
    9
    9
    27
    1T command rate

for voltages look for dram voltage and set it to purple 1.66v,which will be 1.648v in windows

if your struggling read the mb manual and it will show you with pictures on how to set timings and ram voltage, hope this helps until lsdme replies

    Thanks for that,
Just fired up Fallout 3 New Vegas and that also started perfectly unlike before!! Still checking but performance has been faultless. Still havent rebooted tho.
Just two more questions. Any particular voltage settings best for the CPU? Im not after any OC. And is 1600 Mhz RAM a problem for the CPU as specs (see link below) say RAM should only be DDR3 800/1066Mhz. Does this mean the CPU will "strangle" the RAM to 1066Mhz?
    Regards

you can use any speed of ram,1066 is the mb default setting, but you can use ram with speeds of 1066 to 2000mhz+ without problems, you just have to set it up in the bios, some ram supports xmp and sets it up for you but most cases its not as reliable regarding voltages as setting it up yourself, cpu wont throttle ram at all, intel is just stating stock frequencies it doesnt say about adjusting

if you using a mild overclock or at stock cpu speed then i would set cpu voltage to normal voltage setting in cpu voltage list

The socket is FULL of pins, MANY TINY ones!! So please keep your fingers and everything else out of there :)

Yes, I can give you full settings to try, what overclock do you want to use on the CPU?

Please update your BIOS, using Qflash NOT @BIOS, here is a guide
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ash-guide.html

Here is your latest BIOS F7f
    http://redirectingat.com/?id=6526X65...test-bios.html

Not sure what you are asking about CPU multi, but you do need to keep in mind these CPU's have "Turbo" which can increase the CPU multi, or not if disabled.

    Ok, I have now ud3r rev 2.0 and memories 3x2GB kingston KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX.

Could you check my current settings, please? Are they ok?

try with those? 1.155 qpi/vtt looked a little low to me 1.3v will be fine, multithreading should be enabled too without any problems

you might be able to run 8-8-8-24 timings, you would need to try and test,if unstable then put back to stock timings

Ok thanks, I'll try those settings.

    Why qpi/vtt should be 1.3? 1.66v (dram) - 0.5 = 1.16 (if I correctly understand your previous advice).

yeah try with 1.3v or 1.315v for qpi/vtt voltage and 1.66 or 1.5v according to your ram, voltage will be printed on the ram module
