    Your updated present bios settings still seem a bit off getting 3.5G from 469x 7 and 1066 mem speed from 469x 2 but np..

    Just a few more notes
    the 450 profile is on cas 4 memory timings ,my memory wont work easily above 900mhz on 4 timings.
    So i dont really have any profiles saved around the 460 cpu /fsb ref mark,because I need 470+ to compensate for switching to cas 5 timings.

    The 450 voltages are so low(comparatively) that mch doesnt get above 35C under testing and the cpu doesnt break 55C.

    In that sense,altho i couldnt guarantee it the standard intel cpu coolerand anything better should be good for 3.6 Ghz at least.
    In theory the difference between a good cpu cooler and the intel one is around 10 degrees C under full load.
    If I had an intel cooler at 3.6ghz i should be seeing around 65C at 3.6ghz.
    The cpu itself seems stable up to 75C indicated temps

    On my system 43-45C is the max sustainable MCH temp when everything is under heavy load and for me at full overclock I need in and around 1.4v mch.
    My memory is at its limit then too so that could be why.

    We will see how the zalman preforms, the problem is that I live in Sweden and all the old tech is mad hard to find

    The fan currently keeps my core 2 duo without cooling paste at 55c as maximum, read on some forums a just now about the fan, it seems like some people with Q6600 have oced to 3.6 and have a pretty stable temp.

    The cpufan is really big though and the airflow is just amazing in it, I hope I can keep it if not I will pay 100$ for another one which the standard ones here costs. I guess it's better than stock?

    Forgot to mention my case is a bigtower have about 10 fans.

    I also got my case there for 15 euro.The case offer is finished now tho unfortunately.

    Where are u getting your cpu? Pixmania and Amazon seem to be the best european value.

    When I changed my q 8200 cpu for the Q8400 i sold the 8200 on ebay and a friend in the US mailed me the Q8400.The cpu change didnt cost anything well maybe around 10 euro.


    I think the other posters above are saying the zalman isnt the best cpu cooler, but it should be better than a standard intel one.

    Im just saying even a standard intel cooler might be enough for 3.6ghz on a Q8400.

    I buy from local stores n swedish computer webshops.

    For example 1 Noctua NH-U9B SE2 costs 60€ = 600KR (Roughly Converted) and the issue is that they aint being made so the shops can charge the extra atm. Which makes it damn expensive in the end, it also seems like the shops run out of all the cheap coolers and wont restock the awesome cheap ones.

    It's also very depending on what kind of chip I get when the Q8400 arrives.

    I wouldnt recommend trying the 4-4-4-12 timing at 450 cpu ref,unless you had your memory on those timings before.
    Did you try 5-5-5-18 which i think is your timing?
    or maybe 5-5-5-15.

    Also you might need to go for pl 10

    You could even take memory performance off turbo and put it on standard.
    Just to get the speed running running stable.
    Going from standard to turbo varies some of the memory timings
    Like for me on standard performance tRFC=62 on turbo it goes to tRFC=54,I could adjust it myself and get it on 52 but its not worth the trouble.

    What is the ViD of the cpu.The voltage that it shows will be applied to the cpu in bios when you loaded optimised defaults?

    Did you load in the cpu ref and mch ref that was shown in optimised defaults before u started to overclock? .If you enter them manually they will increase automatically as you increase voltages.

    Post up the settings that were stable at 440cpu ref or 430?

    Finally what multiplier are you using for the memory.. is it 2:0D or 2:66D?

    edit: the fastest thing ive found to get a quick test to see if your settings are close is "memtest" (the in windows version) Once you get in do a 15% of memory test .If you get no errors you can start more testing.
    If u get an error even 1 its time to adjust things again.
