Ok , I am close enough to make my mind.

And so if I operate ( any DDR3 higher specs ) at 1066 it will be with multiplier 1:1 .
And if the memory configured to work at their named speed ( example 1333 ) it will work but with another multiplier .. right ?

And usually the benchmarks favor 1:1 settings , but with faster memory sub system , I would not notice any loss ,
and probably just a bit of gain , because the memory sub system works even faster .. right ?

If you leave the Q6600 FSB at default of 266, then the only 1:1 speed you can use is 533Mhz, you must use a higher than 1:1 ratio.

1:1 is not as important anymore as it used to be on older boards like 965P, 945, ect.

You want the fastest speed you can set, which would be the 4.00 memory multiplier

True , the 4.00 memory multiplier stands for 1066 .

But at the bottom end, of those selections , there is an setting as 4.00+ memory multiplier .

    What does this do ?

Just ordered the memory ... and the Winner is the
    KHX1600C8D3T1K2 | 4GX DDR3 4GB (2X2GB) PC12800 1600MHZ
    HYPERX T1 DUAL CHANNEL KIT

Reason of choice ... it is one of the very few 1600MHZ DDR3,
that has spd programming for jedec 533= 1066FSB

I order it locally ( Greece local e-shop ) at 77 EUR ( with discount as special offer of the week ) normal price 97 EUR .

And so in two days, I will see the results = progress

Here is an review about it
Kingston And Patriot : Dual-Channel DDR3: Who Makes The Best 4GB Kit Under $150?

I did try to locate the review winner , but its cost around 150 or more Euro,
and so I took the HYPERX and probably I should smile because of the price that I got it ..

At 1066 it will work at 7-7-7-20 as planed ..

    Best timing under-clocked as 1333 = 7-7-7-13 ( link above )
So at 1066 there is hope for even lower latency .

Well grats and I hope it works well,it just seems odd that someone should be trying to hold their reference speed down to 266 mhz for cpu, fsb and especially ddr3 memory.
You should have plenty of adjustment if you want tho.

Could be unique :). Good luck.

I will offer an quick answer ...
I just got the Q6600 and this motherboard, I was using an P4 3.2G on a perfect ASUS P4C800-E DLX ...
And I has happy for six years with it.
The Q6600 looks now to me, like an space rocket even at stock.
That's why I do not care to push it .

I did some benchmarking at 2.8 and 3G , did not see any boost at the CPU score of 3Dmark.
I have even OC my 7770 , did not gave any special gain.
Its the first time in my life , that my system looks to have plenty of power at stock speeds.

Even with my current DDRII the system are super snappy , but I know that the DDR3 ,
it will help more to make this system more balanced and snappiest as possible.

Even at my old ASUS I had get for it the best ever OCZ platinum 2-2-2-5 , and it was truly stable as mountain, and not just as a rock. :-)

I bet that with 333FSB = 3G on CPU = 1333 DDR there will be some extra gain in speed .
But I will test that, in time ..

Looks like a good choice, especially since you said you found it at a nice price!

You will have plenty of room to play, you may even get 666-18 at 1333Mhz if your NB can handle it :)

    Yea yea , keep teasing me :-) ( 666-18 at 1333Mhz)
    my box

I still have a mission for you .... what the setting 4.00+ memory multiplier does ?

I can try to get an answer from the horses mouth too ,
but if some one knows the answer here , it will be nice sharing it.

Cpu FSB speed X memory multiplier = memory speed
    333MHz X 4.0 = 1333MHz

At stock settings for your cpu, 266 X 4.0 = 1066MHz memory speed.

Ok I will post an picture so to see, of what I am talking about ...

( Currently I use the DDRII at 533 stock , I do not know if with the DDR3 detected, the Bios will so any other options )

And so look this picture .. and tell what you think !!
