Close the SPD window and look to the right where you will see that the + and ~ symbols are for different memory strap settings.
You will probably need to use the (4.00) 1333 memory strap setting when you're trying to run your memory with cpu bus speeds higher than 333MHz.

Check out Lsdme's excellent http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ing-guide.html for more help with overclocking terms and information.

Yeh the max memory multiplier is still x 4 .

So unless you move off 266 cpu ref the memory will have a max speed of 1066mhz.

If you are you are worried about overclocking your cpu you dont have to.

The board components are well capable of 333mhz (1333mhz fsb)
All you have to do is
1.dial in 300 as a cpu ref then use your x8 multiplier on the cpu
    cpu speed=2.4ghz(standard)
    fsb speed=300x4 (1200mhz)
memory speed =300x4(1200mhz) not great but better than 1066.

2.I could easily see your setup working with 320 as a cpu ref without any strain or voltage changes.
I think the gigabyte site for the board says it can work up to 1600mhz fsb.
So once again if you really have to keep the cpu speed at stock or below.
    You could dial in
342 cpu ref and use the x7 multiplier on the cpu
    cpu speed=2.4Ghz (standard)
    fsb speed =1368 mhz
    mem speed=1368 mhz.

but wait! the board only supports ddr3 up to 1333 mhz.
Its not goin to blow up.. it either will work well at 3% above the stated supported memory speed ,or it wont.

Either way if you absolutely have to keep the cpu at or below stock speeds you have a cpu/fsb/memory reference speed of 266-342 mhz to play around with using the cpu x7,x8 and x9 multipliers.

edit:nm I just read back on our posts..3D Mark cpu benchmark aspect isnt a great cpu test, but youve obviously been overclocking before,if the cpu was at 3G and the your present memory too ,must have been running at 667 ?

You had a pentium 3.2 and noticed a big improvement.
I had a D820 running at 3.4ghz and even with a Q8200 at 2.3ghz(my original quad cpu) I noticed a big improvement ,so it isnt all about speed but it does help.

I truly like to thanks you all .
And @kick , for his above post .

My new memory came today , lightning speed , so I got it before 7 hours from now.

I got an afternoon full of testing settings and benchmarking.

I got in allot of trouble , until to find out accidentally , ( I had try everything else ).
That this motherboard with this Ram even at 1066 FSB Default ... needed the MCH over-voltage control to +1 so to boot with out blue screen, at loading windows.

As soon I did this major discovery my life become easier.

By setting at the MCH over-voltage control to +2 ,
I managed even with the memory setting ( Bios - Performance level) to Extreme,
to get this Ram to run , at the amazing 6-6-6-10

I believe that I have win the title of the best DDR3 1600Mhz Underclocker

The bandwidth that I got , at 2.4 surpassed anything as P35 working with 1066 DDR3 , even with larger CPU ..

Yes the system are very stable with those timings.
It can do also 5-6-5-10 but I prefer it to be at the fail safe limits.
At the Bios memory setting Extreme , noticed that the motherboard overvolts the DDR3 to 1.8 V

Now that I had discovered how low this timings they can go.
Getting up , it will be more easy , even just for testing.

    And last the full comparison of DDRII - 533 4-5-4-12 & DDR3 1600 at 1066 6-6-6-10

    DDRII 533 ......DDR3 at 1066

    Write :4817... 4796
    Copy:4420 ... 5452

After following the suggestion of @kick, I decided to find the upper FSB limit of the motherboard.

The 1520 Mhz are the end of the road ( with out FSB over voltage) + totally stable.
With FSB over voltage +1, I got from 1522 to 1523 , with +2 to 1525 and after that chaos :-)

The memory bandwidth had increased by allot , I never believed that the memory FSB does such a deference , with out the CPU to be OCed to hell .

    The new numbers are :

    DDRII - 533 4-5-4-12 & DDR3 1600 at 1066 6-6-6-10 & 1520 8-8-8-24

    DDRII 533 ......DDR3-1066.....DDR3-1520
    Everest ..
    Read : 5164... 7350...9028
    Write : 4817... 4796...6879
    Copy : 4420.... 5452...7595
    latency:97.8ns ..65,1....56,8

Nice scores ... and the EP35C looks to enjoying for good, the new DDR3
The gain from all this bandwidth is visible on 3Dmark6, at the test with the air balloon. (1920X1440 ) 4XAA smooth and fast motion.

Two screen shots, from my results ( another 5 hours of testing settings ) :-)

    Nice results, but....
I think that you can do better.
Assuming that your maximum memory speed is around 1500MHz the following might work with 1.65 DRAM voltage:
    425 x 7 = 2.975GHz + 425 x 3.20 = 1360MHz, possibly with 7-7-7-21 timings
    425 x 8 = 3.400GHz + 425 x 3.20 = 1360MHz, possibly with 7-7-7-21 timings
    450 x 7 = 3.150GHz + 450 x 3.20 = 1440MHz, with somewhat looser timings

Just for reference, my backup system:
    e6300 (R0) + P35-DS3L 3.60ghz 1080mhz
    FSB = 450MHz
    CPU = 8X
    2.40 memory multiplier, 1080MHz using 5-5-5-15
    Everest Benchmark Results
    • 8839 MB/s memory read
    • 9395 MB/s memory write
    • 7710 MB/s memory copy
    • 57.2 ns memory latency
    Have fun trying

    Don't fotget the 3.33 multiplier, for example 450x6 for 2.7GHz and DDR-1500.

I think that his mobo only has one 3.33 option.
There's no way of knowing if the 3.33 memory strap is uses C-strap (200MHz) or D-strap (400MHz) settings.
Hopefully the worst that will happen is a boot-loop or the bios settings will be reset.

He might even be able to o/c higher than 450MHz.
I think that 3.60GHz is about as good as it gets with a Q6600 cpu.

yeh was gonna point out that maybe lowering the multiplier ,now that the fsb was getting higher might be good as mem speed might be the limiting factor or at least the boards ability to run it at a higher speed
Im not sure on the relationship of mem speed to fsb on the chipset tho.
Higher fsb might not allow over the max ddr2 speed on ddr3 + the cpu V increase that might be needed.
Looks good so far tho and apparently a big increase on the old ddr2.
