Please don't use FSB when refering to memory speeds. :(
I think you're saying the (cpu) FSB will be above 400MHz and the memory speed will be lower than the 1520MHz speed.
To most easily find your maximum cpu speed, it's best to temporarily use a memory speed that is well below the maximum memory speed.

Yes , my mistake , at my other post i described them totally wrong , or reversed. :-)

Currently , I am taking a breath ,and testing the stability with the CPU at 3.040MHz , (core voltage 1.3)
everything looks nice no hiccups , an nice stable running system.

And one additional important detail , the Bios setting "FSB over voltage" by using +1 , the systems boot up easier,
from cold boot ( it does not hang that easy ) .
An issue that looks to cause trouble to many Gigabyte owners, even if they overclock or not.

    I thought DDR3-1333 is 9-9-9-24? I don't have P35 MB but I hear they only run up to 1333?

This is the document of the specific Ram DDR3 - 1600MHz modules that I got and use.

    http://objects.icecat.biz/objects/35...1_Kingston.pdf

Its a very latest revision .

Because this memory has specs for even higher speed, than what this motherboard can no do ,
it is currently the only factor of the equation , that I do not worry about it, at all .
Everything else can be considered, that it holds my system back ,but not those memory modules.

Also and the CPU ( Q6600 ) its a well know item, all the planet knows the OC limits of it.
And so currently the only factor left for investigation, are the true potentials of the motherboard it self.

Today that I tried to boot the system , and had again problems to power it on ( cold boot - cycles - on off retry ) ..
Last night I had issues to power it off ...
The motherboard was turning OFF , but the video card was still on !! ( For ever )

I am starting to become Mad too, with this ( Cold boot issue ) , but I have still the hope ,
that with some settings I will handle this problem.

    Currently I am running at 333 X 9 CPU at 3.0G and memory at 1333 7-7-7-20 ( almost stock ) ,
and I plan to test if the cold boot issues still troubles the system ...

Another fresh born question , by reading other local threads ..

My memory modules , does have SPD about XMP operation ...
Is the XMP enabled in any beta Bios of the EP35C-DS3R ?

Yes I know that the XMP Intel profile its mostly for anything that " officially " supports the 1600Mhz memory.
But I need to ask any way.

an xmp or extended memory profile are ram timing and voltage for a particular memory speed on the ram stick/s that can be read by the bios. Its determined by the memory manufacturer and isnt an intel specific profile for any particilar speed

These settings are what the manufacturer has determined are the best settings for that particular memory at a particular speed.
There may be one xmp on the memory or 2 or none at all.

Whether there is a facility on the p35 to automatically use the profiles on the memory or not I dont know. Then again your memory cant run easily at the speed of the profile on your memory so it might not be read properly. It would help if you printed out your full bios profile.
Generally when overclocking people dont turn on the bios reading of the memory profile(s).

If there is no such facility ,you can enter the settings in the profile manually yourself as you have been doing and so get timings better than the standard jedec profile for a particular memory speed.

Sometimes people will use the timings shown in the xmp at memory speeds above what is imprinted on the memory for as long as they can until the timings become too tight.

    ^^^ good advice from Kick.
Try booting with a bit lower memory speed by lowering the memory multiplier 1 step (e.g. from 4.00 to 3.20).

    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100] <-- don't use AUTO, 101 - 103 might help
Performance Enhance = [Standard] <-- don't use TURBO when doing overclock testing
High Speed DRAM DLL Settings = [Option 1] <-- default, try Option 2 (see pages 52 - 53 in your mobo user manual)

This is the generic P35 Bios Template (with minor edits) from http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post312040

Use a standard text editor to fill in your current bios settings, including AUTO or Normal where appropriate.
Post your current bios settings each time you test so that we know which settings are used and changed from your previous posts.

Some bios options might not be available for your motherboard.

Memset, cpuz, and EasyTune5 (Advanced Mode, Overclocking Panel) screen-shots are helpful.

Ok , about the xmp or extended memory profile , the only way to have an look to it,
was with the use of Everest 4.20 ...... ( That actually I got an free registration Key - from an promotion of an German web site proxma.com ) .
........by viewing the the Motherboard --> SPD tab .

Previously I had only awareness about just the Jedec timings , from the CPUz software.

The motherboard with this specific memory, defaults to ( prefers to use ) the 7-7-7-20 1066MHz .

Luckily, by testing the "extended memory profile" settings,
at the suggested FSB + memory voltage + timings , the memory worked nicely.
And I am referring mostly about the highest supported FSB, below the 800 that this equals with operation at 1600MHz ( something not possible for this motherboard).
And so the settings from the 700FSB was working nicely as tight timings,
I did tried to lower even more the timings at this FSB from the given 7-7-7-21 to 7-7-7-20 and I was unable to boot .. :-) ( no voltage tweaks - just everything suggested)
And so Kingston looks that did an fine work by testing and suggesting their extended memory profiles.
And also this Gigabyte board responds to them ( profiles), with an healthy manner.

    Subject 2 : ( boosting FSB & lowering memory divider )
People I did not see any gain , I did that test .
By overclocking the FSB of the P35 , and lowering down the memory divider ,
all that it did was to lower any gain that was coming from the speedy at the max divider memory controller ..

Few posts above , profJim said that I am holding my self from the edge of the Max memory speed ( MHz ) , and I probably face an wall to get higher .

Yes profJim , it looks that this was the right way from the start, so to increase the bandwidth and get the most of it .

Its true , that all suggestions are useful if some one needs , to cut corners on the bandwidth , and boost the CPU speed instead.

After of hours of testing , I found that any gain that comes from this configuration DDR3 + EP35C-DS3R are : More bandwidth at less CPU speed.
The same motherboard with DDRII needs to crack the CPU speed all the way up 4G+, so to archive the performance that I get by hoovering around 3 - 3.2G .

    Subject 3 : ( BIOS template )
I have it , I have print it , I have my settings on it , but prior posting it,
I had in mind to do most of my own tests , and offer by posting it an true working combination of settings that will help and other EP35C-DS3R users .

Currently I am testing at 358 FSB : memory at 716MHz external 1432 MHz.

The motherboard above some specific FSB ( near to 380 + DDR3 ) it faces some hardware issues .
Example : At system shutdown the system looks to power down the motherboard, and the VGA stays "on" for ever !!

I am trying to find the FSB sweet spot, that it will not trouble the system with " Cold Boot settings reversed " OR with problems at " system shutdown "

And so currently , by operating at 358 FSB , it looks that I am succeeding it :-)

Subject 4 : I had installed and testing the latest Beta Bios.
I do not see any performance gain because of it , at the same settings in comparison with the F4.
I have the awareness that BIOS mostly offers help about hardware incompatibly ,
    than boosting performance.
Still I have one small list of suggestions, for the Bios team.
And soon I will need their contact information.

On a second note , my CPU Q6600 GO , it does not trouble me at all about getting even at 3.222 with just 1.3V on Bios ..

And so its nice to feel unstoppable at my " investigation " , by having CPU and RAM ,
that I can count on them ... as rock solid performers . :-)

( by the way at the "File Upload Manager" i do not see an preview of the thumbnails ,
just question marks instead ... is this an forum bug or setting ? )
