Default X58A-UD7 and 6GB Transcend axeRam D3 2000+ problems (BSOD)

    Hi all!

My first post here, congratulations for all your efforts about helping people struggling with voltages and Blue Screens...

    This is my newest Combo:
    Gigabyte X58A-UD7
    Intel i7 950 D0
    6GB Transcend DDR3 2000+ CL9
    CoolerMaster PSU 750W

    My problem?

Blue Screens (0x00000024 error) caused by faulty settings. Once I was activating XMP profile, I couldn't run the pc safely over 20mins. Even when setting manually the latencies, (9-9-9-24), the machine wasn't stable enough. As reading here, I should tweak QPI and stuff I never seen before (last pc setup 4 years old).

Decided to leave it at default settings for try and error and it seems to be stable enough without any errors for the moment for consequent 24 hours (@1000MHz).

I'd like a suggestion from you guys, about DRAM voltages and QPI. No need for pushing to the limit for the moment, just to have it working as expected.

    Some screenshots from CPU-Z

do you want to run ram at 2000mhz? your best disabling xmp and manually setting ram speed/voltages and timings,it will be more reliable

or using xmp and tweaking dram and qpi/vtt voltages 000124 error? that usually means not enough qpi/vtt voltage

set dram voltage according to ram spec either 1.5v or 1.66v,then set the qpi/vtt to atleast 1.350000v(may need more) for 2000mhz ram speed

    Thanx for the quick response!

So, a quick approach enabling XMP profile and setting manually timings (9-9-9-24) voltage for DRAM and QPI would do the trick?

Do you suggest clocking the RAM lower at 1600 with lower timings? (I think 7-7-7-20)

its up to you,im sat here with my ram at 1800mhz,but you would need looser timings of say 8-8-8-24 for 1800mhz,try 1600mhz,it depends on you bclk too what you can set the mem speed at,i have to use a 180x21 cpu bclk to run ram at 1800mhz and 200x21 to run them at 1600mhz when overclocked

a standard 133x12 mem multi would give you 1596mhz speed any higher and you would need to adjust/raise the bclk

set dram voltage according to ram,and try with 1.315000v qpi/vtt for 1600mhz

    Thanks again for the response!

I'll play around safe for beginning. I've already set it @1600 and seems stable.
Will try BCLK adjustments, and DRAM, QPI/VTT voltage.

Too much reading for first day...

I'll let you know whether it worked or not.

    Cheers!

Things seem much more complex than I expected them to be...

Memory @ 1600MHz (9-9-9-24), All other settings to Auto. 133x12 as you suggested worked great. CPU Clock ratio 23x (3.06GHz). DDR Voltage 1.5V, QPI 1.175V.

No big deal and no noticeable difference from default 1066MHz (7-7-7-20).

When trying to slightly adjust QPI and Dram Voltage, I get no boots at all, or at best situation booting till the black loading Screen of Win7 is gone and again a blue screen and a reboot.

What's next? Any suggestions? Are there any "bottlenecks" enabled that shouldn't in order to work as expected?

ps: I'm with default i7 Cooler, tomorrow I'm getting a
    Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.2.

you should be able to adjust those voltages without issues, did you disable xmp and set everything above manually? 1.175v isnt enough for qpi/vtt and thats where your rebooting is coming from, you need to set that to around 1.30000v and dram voltage according to ram, then press f10 save and exit, you can also set the uncore freq to 24x if your using a 12x memory multiplier

just try with 1.25000v for qpi/vtt and see if it lets you set that amount

Again, thanks for your intense support! ;)

I'm starting getting the point here.

QPI is already at 1.315V and running smoothly. Should I set manually the CPU Voltage also? It seems around 1.3V, but at idle it gets lower than 1V (~0.9V).

Now, one thing that's struggling me is the FSB:DRAM ratio. It's 2:10 and this is my bottleneck.

How should I lower the ratio?

you could set uncore freq to 25x and set system performance enhance to extreme or turbo,i dont know whether it will be less stable you will have to test,if your at stock cpu clocks you can set cpu voltage to normal in cpu voltage list

you could bring it down by trying tighter timings of 7-8-7-24 or 8-8-8-24 @1600mhz?
