Default What is the Vcore range for a GA-EP43-UD3L MB

My first post here, seemed to be the best place for a Gigabyte question...

Looking at getting a GA-EP43-UD3L board to do some overclocking of some old gear that I have but I want to make sure the voltage range isn't just an (Auto, +50mV, +100mV and +150mV) only.

I want to make sure that it's a proper voltage adjustment and I would like to know what the total range is. I downloaded the manual and all it says is that it's set to Auto. No other detail on the adjustment.

Bigest reason for a Gigabyte is they seem to support all LGA775 CPU's from the Celeron 326 all the way up to the QX6770... I really like the options.

    can anyone help?

I also have a GA-X58A-UD5 for my main gaming rig coupled with a 920-D0 and GTX480 SSC Edition and it does pretty well. :)

    Thanks

    Vin

Your best bet is to use the forum SEARCH feature using EP43-UD3L and look at some of the posted bios settings.
I would be surprised if this mobo could NOT set CPU Vcore up to 1.50 volts (ouch) or higher.
You might find a definite answer by reading mobo reviews for the UD3L on the web.

Keep in mind that about 420MHz is usually as high as you can overclock with the P43 setup.

P43 isn't the greatest overclocker as mentioned ab above, but you will have normal voltage options in stepped increments - such as 1.1V, 1.15, 1.2, 1.125, 1.135, ect (not exact)

Here's a recent thread with someone using that board and a quad, on page 2 he mentioned 1.38 Vcore so we know the options for Vcore are as mentioned above.

What board would you guys recommend then?

    I have a slew of CPU's to bench ranging from a Celeron LGA775 326, Pentium 4 540j, Pentium 4 D945, I might have a QX9650 shortly so I need a MB that can do a bit of everything in the 775 family.

Gigabytes also seem to be the only option because they seem to have the largest CPU compatability list from what I'm reading... everyone elses stop support at the Celeron 400's

the other nice thing was this MB is sold locally here for under $80...

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Vcore increments are 0.00625v.
VTT and MCH Core increments are 0.1v, and CPU reference has 4 options only, for those the EP45-UD3L would be better, with the addition of MCH Reference.
Both have only 1x12v4pin which may not be enough for the QX9770 or at leas not to OC it to it's max.

Vcore for cpu range is .50V to 2.3V
which would be much less or a lot more than you could reasonably need.

Intel only guarantees a maximum of 50 cpu insertions/extrctions to the 775 socket.
Gigabyte may be more flexible but its something to bear in mind.

$80 is good news and as long as the board supporrts all the cpu types you should be good.
45 or 48 chipsets should have the longest lifespan ,and 775 is probably still in the majority out there.

Even the older boards on nvidia chipsets can hold a lot of the cpu.s.

a qx9560,and you have no mbrd? what about memory?

Depending on circumstances and what you want to do,get some more i series stuff, unless these components are dropping in to you for next to no $, and sell your old components.,
    mho.

    I have my main rig
    i7-920 @ 3.6Ghz (24/7)
    21x171Mhz at 1.3v
    cooled by a Corsair H70
Prime Test for 4 hours nets a temp of 62 degrees
    6GB Patriot 9-9-9-24 @ 1.64v 2:8 ratio
    Storage is (3) Intel SSD V40's in a Raid0
    OS Win7Pro64
GPU is an EVGA GTX480SSC but I'm #540 in the Step up program for the Reference GTX580.
PSU is a Corsair 950W Single Rail

    it does me nice...

but for a bench setup I had picked up an Asus P5N73-AM with a few CPU's for dirt cheap, I already had some RAM (Kingston Hyper X LL PC6400 2x1GB) spare PSU and some other gear so I have been benching that for the last little bit.

but after playing with this MB I quickly found out that the 610i chipset memory was single channel and I hadn't realized that when purchasing but it doesn't matter, everything was cheap.

so now I am looking for an appropriate board to bench this stuff properly because I know I can get this Celeron 326 higher than 4.4Ghz.... I'm only at 1.5v @ 38 Degree and I know she's got a lot more but this little MB can't put out any more that that 1.5v.

so that's why I'm hunting for another MB...

so that's a little about me

Can you get P45's in your area cheap, or maybe even P35? Either would be better than P43

unfortunately no. I'd have to start looking at something used.. and unless I know the person I am getting it from I'm not a huge fan of that.
