I suggest Expert, not quick, that way you set each channels main timings and command rate. This also allows you to see if you loose a channel of memory, failed channels will show up as NA or - in the main timings for the failed channel.

Then yes set voltage to 1.66, and then you'll need to tinker with QPI/Vtt voltage to find the right amount for your CPU depending on the memory and uncore speeds you are using, and the timings you set.

OK, went into bios and did the following :

1.Load optimised defaults (saved, exit, re-entered BIOS)
    2.Set BCLK 150
    3.Set ram multi x8 (1200mhz)
4.Set expert mode and adjusted timings to 6-7-6-18 and voltage 1.66

Am i ok as far as the settings? I didnt change anything else on voltages.

Change of root LOL. I will disable Turbo boost and run it at 170 BCLK. So the new OC is : 170x20 = 3.4ghz , Turbo boost disabled (all other features enabled), ram multi x8 = 1360mhz and all voltages on AUTO including qpi/vtt which i will not alter. If i have hard times doing that i will ask for your voltage tweaking expertise.

DAMN LSD!!! Oh my god you are not stressing the DO NOT USE XMP enough, man i tell you. That little fu##ker upped my QPI/VTT and voltages to vcore 1.3volts. 1.3 volts for stock CPU speed oh my god. I've seen overclocks as high as 4GHZ with 1.25 volts. Anyway now that XMP is out off the way and i am begining to be more familiar with the BIOS i am going to start setting values manually.

Quick question : what should i prefer, static overclock to lets say 3,4/3,6 or Turbo boost from 3.0 to 3.6?

its up to you whether you disable turbo or not, either way you should be able to clock to 3.4-3.8ghz on normal cpu voltage setting and around 1.3v qpi/vtt voltage, remember to set dram voltage according to your ram, either 1.5v or 1.66v

Is it normal that when i load Optimized Defaults the CPU Vcore is 1.30625v? Isn't that a little high for stock settings? Is that voltage the max that the CPU will go?

yes because auto voltage will 9 times out of ten overvolt things, set cpu to "normal" setting in cpu voltage list,it will use less

Yes i did that but the Vcore didn't change, it stayed 1.30625v. I changed to Normal, saved - exit and when i got back in it was the same. With that kind of voltage i guess i have to forget the OC.

You have any template i can use for the Advanced Voltage settings?

it depends on the cpu, some use more some use less, you can manually set it to 1.2v and see if its stable,or use normal and then look in dvid and reduce load voltage by selecting -0.10000v that way the cpu will still throttle at idle but will only use 1.20625v at load instead of 1.30625v

The first time I hear auto will overvolt aith stock optimized defaults. What is the CPU VID?
And just of curiousity, after bad mouthing XMP so much, what are the stable memory and QPI/VTT voltages?
